Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jul 16, 2018

Today Oracle Financial Services announced it has been named by Chartis Research as a Category Leader for Data Integrity and Control (DI&C) on Chartis’ FinTech Quadrant for DI&C solutions in Financial Services.

For its report Data Integrity and Control in Financial Services 2018, Chartis considered two key dimensions when evaluating vendors: completeness of offering and market potential. Oracle’s positioning in the quadrant highlights its depth and breadth of functionality, technology and content.

“We are proud to be recognized by Chartis as a category leader for our data integrity and control capabilities,” said Ambreesh Khanna, Group Vice President, Financial Services Analytical Applications, Oracle Financial Services. “As the volume of data and number of industry regulatory requirements keeps growing, financial institutions are in need of robust data governance, quality and controls more than ever before. Our placement on the quadrant re-affirms our status as a best-in-class provider with an unrivaled array of services and capabilities, and we are committed to continuously strengthening our toolset.”

By positioning Oracle as a category leader, Chartis recognizes the range and diversity of its offerings, its sector coverage, and the financial strength it has to absorb demand volatility in specific industry sectors or geographic regions. Chartis also rated Oracle for its strong alliance strategies with leading consulting firms and systems integrators.

“Oracle combines deep domain knowledge in various risk topics with strong technology assets and capabilities,” said Rob Stubbs, Head of Research at Chartis. “The company is positioned to address a range of needs, from complex risk management and technology to standardized and integrated solutions.”

The 2018 market report by Chartis examines how the dynamics in this space have shifted since its last update in 2016, and the implications for Financial Institutions and technology vendors. Global Businesses Turn to Oracle Blockchain Service to Speed Transactions Securely

14 hours 9 min ago
Press Release
Global Businesses Turn to Oracle Blockchain Service to Speed Transactions Securely Arab Jordan Investment Bank, CargoSmart, and Intelipost are among early adopters of enterprise-class general ledger service

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jul 16, 2018

Businesses around the world have been deploying an early adopter version of Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service, which becomes generally available today. The service allows organizations to easily build blockchain networks to drive more secure and efficient transactions and to track goods through supply chains on a global scale. Arab Jordan Investment Bank, CargoSmart, Certified Origins, Indian Oil, Intelipost, MTO, Neurosoft, Nigeria Customs, Sofbang, Solar Site Design and TradeFin are among the many global organizations that already have adopted Oracle’s blockchain platform.

Blockchain has the power to fundamentally transform how every industry does business by making interactions more secure, transparent, efficient and cost-effective. Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service provides customers with a development platform to build their own networks, and to quickly integrate with Oracle SaaS and third-party applications they already use, as well as other blockchain networks and Oracle PaaS services. It also enables users to provision blockchain networks, join other organizations, and deploy and run smart contracts to update and query the ledger. Oracle’s blockchain platform leverages the company’s decades of experience across industries and its extensive partner ecosystem to reliably share and conduct trusted transactions with suppliers, banks, and other trade partners through blockchain.

“Blockchain promises to be one of the most transformative technologies of our generation,” said Amit Zavery, executive vice president, Oracle Cloud Platform. “We are excited to announce the availability of Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service. It is the result of years of R&D alongside our valued partners and customers. With Oracle’s platform, enterprises can enhance their business, eliminate unnecessary processes, and transact with their distributed networks more easily, transparently and securely than ever before.”

Oracle’s blockchain platform is built on top of The Linux Foundation’s Hyperledger Fabric. It is pre-assembled with all the underlying infrastructure dependencies, container lifecycle management, event services, identity management, REST proxy, and a number of operations and monitoring tools integrated under a single console, expediting the set-up and application development process. Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service is an Oracle-managed cloud platform backed by a 99.95 percent availability SLA, with built-in high availability configuration, autonomous recovery agents, as well as continuous ledger backup capabilities that can enable multi-datacenter disaster recovery across availability domains.

It further benefits from broad capabilities in Oracle Cloud Platform for plug-and-play integration with existing cloud and on-premises applications, API management, and application development environments and tools. Additionally, Oracle is delivering new SaaS applications to use blockchain technology for common use cases, such as track and trace, provenance identification, warranty and usage, and cold chain. The plug-and-play ability with Oracle and third-party applications results in faster integration with diverse systems of record; greatly accelerating time to market and multiplying the returns from using the blockchain platform across different application use cases.

“Blockchain projects are quickly moving from pilot to production as enterprises and governments begin to see the inherent value of distributed ledgers and smart contracts,” said Robert Parker, group vice president of manufacturing and retail insights, IDC. “As spending accelerates, buyers will need an enterprise class platform beyond open source that includes data security and integrity, scalability, manageability, and interoperability.”

Quotes from Global Organizations and Consortia Using Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service

Blockchain has the power to impact almost all industries and has applicability to verticals from transportation, supply chain and logistics, energy, retail and ecommerce, to financial services, telecommunications and public sector. Organizations and industry consortia are already using Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service to help ease transactions, track goods through supply chains, and reduce costs, including global shipping leaders, multi-national manufacturers, food producers and energy marketplaces. For example, Oracle joined the Food Safety Consortium and is a member of The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, participating in its working group on blockchain.

“Oracle’s blockchain platform has helped us minimize the complexity of electronic fund transfers by reducing cost, increasing efficiency and security levels, and ultimately improving the overall customer experience,” said Ayman Qadoumi, A. Deputy General Manager, Information Technology and Security, Arab Jordan Investment Bank. “The built-in features such as identity management and data encryption made it an ideal choice given our industry requirements and compliance needs. Additionally, the REST APIs helped us and our vendors accelerate application development and integration with existing core services.”

“We are using Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service to develop an application to help simplify the complex documentation processes that plague the shipping industry,” said Steve Siu, CEO, CargoSmart. “Its comprehensive nature has allowed us to quickly turn prototypes into viable products in several 12-week sprints and so far, we have seen proven productivity gains of more than 30 percent compared to other blockchain platforms we tested. Another key purchasing requirement were its integrated management and operations tools, which allow business partners to monitor all of their blockchain activities and the health of the network.”

“As the producer of Extra Virgin Olive Oil from fruits grown in small family farms in Italy, we wanted to trace our product that we sell in the US market branded Bellucci Evoo across the entire supply chain – ‘from the tree to the shelf,’” said Andrea Biagianti, CIO of Certified Origins. “The availability of Oracle’s blockchain service simplifies the implementation and collaboration of all parties included, and represents a real competitive advantage for us. It adds a further level of transparency and information that is valuable for consumers looking for quality products and helps us to support the excellence of the small farms.”

Dr. Terence Lau, Convener of the Food Safety Consortium (FSC), welcomed Oracle as a Corporate Member of the non-profit technology development platform established by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. “FSC is committed in advancing global food safety with science and technology,” said Dr. Lau. “With an increasing demand on multidisciplinary expertise in tackling challenges in food safety and quality, FSC is delighted to partner with Oracle to leverage blockchain, big data, and other IT applications to provide better food provenance, tracking and safety. We look forward to exploring Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service to improve and accelerate the Food Safety initiative in Hong Kong, as well as globally.”

“Companies are increasingly testing and seeing the value blockchain technologies can offer their organizations, from streamlining internal processes to building trusted networks with partners, customers and third parties,” said Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director, Hyperledger. “Based on Hyperledger Fabric, Oracle’s platform, with its support for interoperability with non-Oracle Hyperledger Fabric instances, will help build further support for open standards and interoperability, while illustrating how quickly, easily and securely businesses can begin utilizing blockchain to improve business processes.”

“Oracle’s blockchain platform is agile, easy to develop on and its enterprise-grade scalability makes it an ideal choice for deploying blockchain platforms rapidly,” said Juan José Miranda, blockchain project manager, Magia.Digital. “Based on our experience with the platform, we even chose it as our main development platform for the New York Consensus’ Hackathon 2018. With its features, we were able to impress the judges and ultimately be named winner of the contest.”

“Once we decided that blockchain would be the ideal technology to help bring our ‘From Mileage to Opportunity’ – M2O – loyalty program to life, we went through a rigorous approach to find the right vendor,” said Suwan Kim, CEO, MTO. “We were confident that Oracle’s pre-assembled blockchain cloud service could quickly help us realize a trusted platform that empowers users to convert credit card points and air miles to tokens. It also provides us with easy, ongoing management and all the underlying security, scalability, and resilience that are needed for a production solution like this.”

“We used Oracle’s blockchain to build a trusted platform for the automation of Customs Excise Trade business processes and procedures,” said Aber T Benjamin, Assistant Comptroller General Modernization, Nigeria Customs Service. “Using this technology, we found the entire business environment can be migrated to blockchain to automate processes and create transparency and predictability. Once the transition to blockchain is completed, NCS expects revenue growth increase of about 50 percent. This technology helps our organization to build global trust for Nigerian businesses through irrefutable data on goods manufactured in the country.”

“Using Oracle’s blockchain platform in factoring and supply chain finance seems a natural fit that enables us to go from a fragmented process along heterogeneous systems to a common base, that can be trusted by all, used as a reference, resolve conflicts and streamline processes,” said Nikolaos Vasilonikolidakis, CEO, Neurosoft. “Risk mitigation in factoring is paramount and Oracle’s blockchain brings common consensus that helps settle transactions in near real-time.”

“Oracle’s blockchain platform is enabling Sofbang to build smart contract supply chain solutions for our customers,” said Michael Ribet, product development manager, Sofbang. “We’re delighted with the rich functionality, robust scalability of the service and how it’s designed to integrate blockchain technology with current business critical applications seamlessly. Our customers are anticipating up to 35 percent efficiency gains by communicating more reliably and rapidly with their trading partners through Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service.”

“We helped found the Energy Blockchain Network earlier this year after realizing stakeholders in the solar project ecosystem needed a single source of truth with immutable records, so they can trust project status data,” said Jason Loyet, CEO of Solar Site Design. “We can now program each project’s status, list requirements to move forward, and rewards value contributions in near real-time. We are really happy with how easily NetSuite SuiteCloud Development Platform and Oracle‘s blockchain platform integrate with pre-packaged blockchain APIs, allowing us to explore new ways to develop smart contracts, manage the projects and reward programs.”

“As a company dedicated to making business-to-business payments and supply chain finance secure, frictionless and ubiquitous using blockchain, we are able to significantly accelerate the time to onboard corporations, their suppliers and banks by using Oracle’s blockchain platform,” said Amit Baid, CEO, TradeFin. “It provides a REST API-driven platform with rich integration options in Oracle Cloud Platform, allowing us to quickly onboard existing customers. Additionally, Oracle Scaleup Ecosystem provides access to the platform itself, cloud credits, mentoring, and a number of Oracle resources that can help start-ups like ours grow quickly.”

What this allows us to do is spend time creating new products, focusing on creative solutions, and most importantly driving results and value for our clients.”

They need to deliver the transparency clients are now requiring while maintaining their creative culture,” said Chris Hering, Director of Advertising & Media Product Marketing, Oracle NetSuite. “NetSuite helps boutique media agencies like Forthea Interactive and MediaMax by streamlining agency workflows, allowing them to gain real-time insight into client and project-based accounting and deliver the best possible client experience.”

Oracle Recognized as a Leader in 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management, Worldwide

Tue, 2018-07-10 07:00
Press Release
Oracle Recognized as a Leader in 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management, Worldwide Also received highest score for Global-Enterprise Use Case in 2018 Gartner Critical Capabilities for Identity Governance and Administration

Redwood Shores Calif—Jul 10, 2018

Oracle today announced that it has been named a Leader in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Access Management, Worldwide1. It was also given the highest product score in the Global-Enterprise Use Case in Gartner’s 2018 Critical Capabilities for Identity Governance and Administration2. Additionally, earlier this year, Oracle was named a Leader in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration report for the fifth consecutive time.3

Today’s advanced security threats require proactive and intelligent automation that can quickly scale with a rapidly changing IT environment. Oracle’s security portfolio provides a comprehensive set of integrated solutions designed to help reduce the time required to respond to security threats. Oracle helps organizations predict, prevent, detect, and respond to the overwhelming number of security events that challenge IT and security operations. Oracle employs a multilayered security approach that helps organizations secure their entire cloud, including users, apps, data, and infrastructure.

“The rapid growth of users, applications, data, and infrastructure makes it hard for organizations to keep pace with the multitude of security threats,” said Eric Olden, senior vice president and general manager, security and identity, Oracle. “Using state-of-the-art machine learning and adaptive security, coupled with identity governance, Oracle’s comprehensive security platform is designed to help organizations protect data, including by limiting who has access to that data.”

According to Gartner, “Leaders in the access management market generally have significant customer bases. They provide feature sets that are appropriate for current customer use-case needs. Leaders also show evidence of strong vision and execution for anticipated requirements related to technology, methodology or means of delivery; and they show evidence of how access management plays a role in a collection of related or adjacent product offerings. Leaders typically demonstrate solid customer satisfaction with overall access management capabilities, the sales process, and/or related service and support.”

The Critical Capabilities for Identity Governance and Administration report gave Oracle the highest score for the Global-Enterprise use case. Gartner states that IGA tools “help organizations control access risks by managing user accounts and entitlements in infrastructure systems and applications enterprisewide.” The assessment highlighted 16 vendors. Gartner evaluated them against 11 critical capabilities and 4 uses cases. The capabilities were Access Certification, Access Requests, Auditing, Ease of Deployment, Entitlements Management, Fulfillment, Identity Life Cycle, Policy and Role Management, Reporting and Analytics, Scalability and Performance, and Workflow.

Oracle Recognized as a Leader for Ninth Consecutive Time in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce

Tue, 2018-07-10 07:00
Press Release
Oracle Recognized as a Leader for Ninth Consecutive Time in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce Oracle Placed in Furthest Overall Position for Completeness of Vision in the Entire Magic Quadrant

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jul 10, 2018

Oracle has been placed in the furthest overall position for its completeness of vision within the entire Magic Quadrant in Gartner’s 2018 “Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce”1, which evaluated Oracle, including its Oracle Commerce Cloud. This is the ninth consecutive time that Oracle has been named a Leader in this Magic Quadrant. Oracle believes that its Leader position underscores its continued innovation in developing a modern, end-to-end digital commerce solution.

Gartner positions vendors within a particular quadrant based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision. According to Gartner, “In this fast-paced digital world, change comes quickly. This makes it paramount for vendors to understand not only the emerging market, but their clients' specific needs when it comes to offering strategy and business models. Likewise, innovation is imperative. Innovative vendors that demonstrate an understanding of the market in their offering (product) strategies and emerging business models exhibit Completeness of Vision. As a result, market understanding, offering (product) strategy, business model and innovation are all highly weighted criteria.”

This Gartner Magic Quadrant is a companion of Gartner’s “Critical Capabilities for Digital Commerce”2, in which Oracle Commerce Cloud received the highest score for Fast, Nimble Implementations use case and Oracle Commerce received the highest score for the Robust / Global Implementations use case. Oracle Commerce Cloud also scored 4.13 out of 5 for the Modular, Flexible Implementations use case.

“We are proud to be named a Leader again in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce and to receive such scores for Oracle Commerce Cloud in the Critical Capabilities document. We believe it demonstrates our unrelenting dedication to innovation in digital commerce and our investment and momentum in the cloud,” said Ken Volpe, senior vice president, product development, Oracle. “We know it is critical for commerce companies to provide a seamless, end-to-end omnichannel experience to both consumers and business buyers. Oracle continues to invest in and develop the latest technology required for success in the next era of commerce, such as artificial intelligence (AI), real-time analytics, and emerging sources of data, to offer agile, scalable and data-driven digital commerce solutions that help businesses drive sales, customer loyalty and growth.”

Part of the Oracle Customer Experience (CX) Cloud, Oracle Commerce Cloud is the industry’s only unified enterprise-grade B2C and B2B commerce platform built on modern cloud architecture and deep industry expertise. With a proven heritage for performance, scalability and flexibility, Oracle Commerce Cloud empowers online businesses to take advantage of AI-powered capabilities and innovative personalization tools to turn static journeys into smart ones by delivering targeted product and content that is most relevant to the shopper’s immediate context. Recommendations utilize account data, shopper third-party data and real-time inputs to optimize outcomes and create superior consumer experiences for both first time and known shoppers to drive repeat visits, loyalty and revenue.

Part of Oracle Cloud Applications, Oracle Customer Experience (CX) Cloud Suite empowers organizations to take a smarter approach to customer experience management and business transformation initiatives. By providing a trusted business platform that connects data, experiences, and outcomes, Oracle CX Cloud Suite helps customers reduce IT complexity, deliver innovative customer experiences, and achieve predictable and tangible business results.

Gartner positions vendors within a particular quadrant based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision. It says its evaluation criteria “emphasize the ability to develop, deploy and support a unique and compelling customer experience. They stress migration to more flexible and nimble implementation that reduces both time to market and TCO. They stress the vendor's ability to attract and develop an ecosystem of technology and service provider partners that add value to its platform.”

“WMS applications offer capabilities such as receiving, put-away, stock locating, inventory management, cycle counting, task interleaving, wave planning, order allocation, order picking, replenishment, packing, shipping, labor management and automated materials-handling equipment interfaces. These systems incorporate mobile devices along with bar code and, possibly, RFID scanning/sensing to form the transactional foundation of a WMS. This enables efficiencies of directed work activity and the delivery of accurate information in near real time,” the report states.

Regarding Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS) Cloud, Oracle believes that its global expansion and commitment to innovative cloud technology validates its position in the market.

According to Gartner, “While a very mature market, WMS offerings continue to differ in areas like usability, adaptability, intelligence, life cycle costs and ability to support end-to-end logistics process orchestration.”

Oracle WMS Cloud provides a cloud-based inventory and warehouse management service. With innovative product features including emerging technology like IoT and mobile solutions, Oracle WMS Cloud combines the agility and cost efficiency of the cloud, while also harboring warehouse management and fulfillment capabilities.

“Ensuring that our customers are prepared for the changing market with cloud technology, is a key driver for Oracle. We provide a modern SCM platform infused with emerging technology like AI and IoT to help prepare businesses for the future,” said Diego Pantoja-Navajas, vice president of WMS Development for SCM Cloud at Oracle. “Oracle WMS Cloud can be easily integrated with other business applications, enabling seamless, (and inexpensive), upgrades in the cloud. Oracle WMS Cloud also provides a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) layer exposing most WMS fields via REST APIs that allows customers to build custom applications.”

New Study: 93% of People Would Trust Orders from a Robot at Work

Thu, 2018-06-28 07:00
Press Release
New Study: 93% of People Would Trust Orders from a Robot at Work HR leaders and employees want to embrace AI, but organizations are failing to prepare the workforce

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 28, 2018

People are ready to take instructions from robots at work according to a new study conducted by Oracle and Future Workplace, a research firm preparing leaders for disruptions in recruiting, development and employee engagement. The study of 1,320 U.S. HR leaders and employees found that while people are ready to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) at work, and understand that the benefits go far beyond automating manual processes, organizations are not doing enough to help their employees embrace AI and that will result in reduced productivity, skillset obsolescence and job loss.

The study–AI at Work–identified a large gap between the way people are using AI at home and at work. While 70 percent of people are using some form of AI in their personal life, only 6 percent of HR professionals are actively deploying AI and only 24 percent of employees are currently using some form of AI at work. To determine why there is such a gap in AI adoption when people are clearly ready to embrace AI at work (93 percent would trust orders from a robot), the study examined HR leader and employee perceptions of the benefits of AI, the obstacles preventing AI adoption and the business consequences of not embracing AI.

Employees and HR Leaders See the Potential of AI

All respondents agreed that AI will have a positive impact on their organizations and when asked about the biggest benefit of AI, HR leaders and employees both said increased productivity. In the next three years, respondents expect the benefits to include:

  • Employees believe that AI will improve operational efficiencies (59 percent), enable faster decision making (50 percent), significantly reduce cost (45 percent), enable better customer experiences (40 percent) and improve the employee experience (37 percent).

  • HR leaders believe AI will positively impact learning and development (27 percent), performance management (26 percent), compensation/payroll (18 percent) and recruiting and employee benefits (13 percent).

Organizations are Not Doing Enough to Prepare the Workforce for AI

Despite its clear potential to improve business performance, HR leaders and employees believe that organizations are not doing enough to prepare the workforce for AI. Respondents also identified a number of other barriers holding back AI in the enterprise.

  • Almost all (90 percent) of HR leaders are concerned they will not be able to adjust to the rapid adoption of AI as part of their job and to make matters worse, they are not currently empowered to address an emerging AI skill gap in their organization.

  • While more than half of employees (51 percent) are concerned they will not be able to adjust to the rapid adoption of AI and 71 percent believe AI skills and knowledge will be important in the next three years, 72 percent of HR leaders noted that their organization does not provide any form of AI training program.

  • On top of the skill gap, HR leaders and employees identified cost (74 percent), failure of technology (69 percent) and security risks (56 percent) as the other major barriers to AI adoption in the enterprise.

Not Embracing AI Now Will Result in Job Loss, Irrelevance and Loss of Competitive Advantage

Despite all the talk about people being worried about AI entering the workplace, the study found the opposite to be true with HR leaders and employees (79 percent of HR leaders; 60 percent of employees) believing a failure to adopt AI will have negative consequences on their own careers, colleagues and overall organization.

  • Respondents identified reduced productivity, skillset obsolescence and job loss as the top three consequences of failing to embrace AI in the workforce.

  • From an organizational standpoint, respondents believe embracing AI will have the most positive impact on directors and C-Suite executives. By failing to empower leadership teams with AI, organizations could lose a competitive advantage.

Methodology

For this survey, 1,320 HR Leaders and employees were asked about their views regarding AI implementation and usage in the workplace. The study targeted HR Leaders and employees who work across different sectors and in organizations of different sizes. All panelists have passed a double opt-in process and complete on average 300 profiling data points prior to taking part in surveys.

  • “As this study shows, people are not afraid of AI taking their jobs and instead want to be able to quickly and easily take advantage of the latest innovations,” said Emily He, SVP, Human Capital Management Cloud Business Group, Oracle. “To help employees embrace AI, organizations should partner with their HR leaders to address the skill gap and focus their IT strategy on embedding simple and powerful AI innovations into existing business processes.”

“AI will enable companies to stay competitive, HR leaders to be more strategic and employees to be more productive at work. If organizations want to take advantage of the AI revolution, while closing the skills gap, they will have to invest in AI training programs. If employees want to stay relevant to the current and future job market, they need to embrace AI as part of their job.”

Bank and Insurance Innovators to Benefit from European Oracle Fintech Innovation Program with B-Hive Europe

Thu, 2018-06-28 07:00
Press Release
Bank and Insurance Innovators to Benefit from European Oracle Fintech Innovation Program with B-Hive Europe European Bank and Insurance Innovators to Benefit from Accelerated Monetization of Fintech Capabilities, Oracle and B-Hive Europe to collaborate on Fintech Innovation Program

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 28, 2018

Oracle has chosen Brussels as a European gateway to roll out its Fintech Innovation Program to Europe. Oracle plans to dedicate additional European staff and resources to set up mutually monetizable relationships with fintechs and digital banking innovators. Oracle plans to work with B-Hive Europe to accelerate enterprise readiness for participating fintechs and banks.

Brussels was chosen as Oracle’s European fintech hub because of its central location and the presence of leading institutions of the European Union. Oracle’s customers will benefit from a renewed focus on European affairs.

Johan Van Overtveldt, Belgium’s Minister of Finance, said, “I wholeheartedly support the decision of Oracle to organize their European rollout from Brussels. Oracle is a global, reliable, technology company and B-Hive Europe is an important public and private sector collaboration. I expect this relationship to create real momentum in the acceleration of financial innovation in Belgium and Europe. It further strengthens Brussels as a pan-European hub for fintech and thus contributes to our strategy to focus on attracting niche financial activities, such as fintech, insurance and market infrastructures.”

“At Oracle, we realize that in Europe, results-driven digital innovation is thriving because of the historical roots of banking. We are choosing Brussels as our fintech center for mainland Europe because of its excellent location,” said Rik De Deyn, senior innovation director, Oracle, who’ll be leading the European rollout. “Brussels is easy to reach from most European financial hubs, close to the European Commission, and an ideal location to bring together fintech innovators and financial institutions,” he added. “Our work with B-Hive Europe will inevitably result in a faster time to innovation value for banks and insurers, and accelerated monetization for fintechs.”

B-Hive Europe is a collaborative innovation fintech platform that brings together major banks, insurers and market infrastructure players to work on common innovation challenges and build bridges to the start-up and scale-up community.

“Adding BigTech firms to our ecosystem is an important part of our strategy to grow and expand innovation for our start-ups, scale-ups and financial service partners,” said Fabian Vandenreydt, Executive Chairman, B-Hive Europe. “With Oracle, we share a focus on accelerated productization and monetization of fintech innovation for the benefits of the full ecosystem. As our strategic cloud infrastructure collaborator, we welcome Oracle’s expertise to help our start-up and scale-up community reach higher levels of enterprise readiness, security and scalability. And this will benefit our bank, insurance and market infrastructure partners in the short term.”

The European fintech market is growing rapidly and banks have an appetite for tangible results. A number of fintech firms have previously worked with Oracle and B-Hive Europe, and welcome the collaboration.

Hanna Zubko, CEO and Co-Founder of IntellectEU Inc, a smart integration and development company focused on blockchain for financial services, explained: “IntellectEU is proud to be part of the unique ecosystem that Oracle and B-Hive Europe have created. This important work offers industry leading technology and strong business relations that our customers need."

Alain Vansnick, Senior VP at TAS Group, a mature fintech running payments and credit card software, said, “Our collaboration with Oracle as a cloud technology provider has been transformational to our business over the past years, generating real revenue opportunities. We are now joining B-Hive Europe because we believe that a collaboration between big tech, fintech, banks and public sector can also transform the market.”

NGDATA, the Intelligent Customer Data Platform, has benefited from B-Hive Europe’s programs from the start, and runs on Oracle technologies. Luc Burgelman, CEO, looks forward to this collaboration: “Oracle and B-Hive share a focus on enterprise-ready, scalable results. We believe in data-based innovation. Oracle and B-Hive Europe combining forces couldn’t have come at a better time.”

The fintech program is globally spearheaded by Mark Smedley, VP Financial Services Solutions; De Deyn will be leading the European effort.

Oracle Extends Cloud-based Warehouse Management to Give Customers Enhanced Logistics Performance and Global Inventory Visibility

Tue, 2018-06-26 07:02
Press Release
Oracle Extends Cloud-based Warehouse Management to Give Customers Enhanced Logistics Performance and Global Inventory Visibility Improvements to Oracle Warehouse Management Cloud include yard management, enhanced solution extensibility, and integrations to Inventory Management Cloud

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 26, 2018

To help customers reduce logistics costs, optimize inventory levels and improve customer service, Oracle today announced extended Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS) Cloud capabilities. The latest global enhancements offer heightened inventory visibility through yard management and integration with Oracle Inventory Management Cloud, as well as improved extensibility with the addition of new REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

Legacy transportation and warehouse management systems are often unable to provide insight into trailers in the yard, which creates a significant gap into visibility that can lead to fulfillment delays. Oracle WMS Cloud yard management capabilities directly address this challenge, making it easier to locate shipments in trailers in order to expedite unloading for high priority inventory.

Oracle Integration Service (ICS) based integrations between Oracle WMS Cloud and Oracle Inventory Management Cloud will enable Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) Cloud customers to rapidly implement source-to-settle and order-to-cash flows to improve business responsiveness. The addition of REST web service APIs improves extensibility and enables customers to customize Oracle WMS Cloud for their specific business and industry needs.

“We were consistently running out of inventory and needed a scalable solution that would deliver real-time visibility into inventory to grow our business,” said Eduardo Gonzalez de Boado Halcon, vice president of Supply Chain at Supermercados Peruanos, “Since implementing Oracle WMS Cloud, our stock outs have reduced by 80 percent and our market share has increased by six percent, which equates to a lot of revenue.”

“Today’s eCommerce driven economy has changed customer expectations for fulfillment, and delays or inconsistencies can significantly impact customer satisfaction and loyalty,” said Diego Pantoja-Navajas, vice president, WMS Product Development at Oracle. “The extended capabilities to Oracle WMS Cloud enable companies to gain greater visibility of inventory so they can implement more rapidly, reduce costs, optimize inventory levels and deliver consistent, high-quality customer experience.”

The enhancements further strengthen Oracle’s position as the leader in cloud-based Warehouse Management Systems, and Transportation Management Systems, delivering end-to-end logistics capabilities including Oracle Warehouse Management Cloud, Oracle Transportation Management Cloud, and Oracle Global Trade Management Cloud.

The latest improvements to Oracle WMS Cloud include:

  • Yard Management: Offers organizations inventory visibility into trailers and their contents in the yard. This allows companies to expedite unloading high priority trailers and shipments needed to speed-up order fulfillment.
  • Solution Extensibility: Allows customers/partners to build customized extensions to standard cloud-based WMS capabilities using REST web service application programming interfaces. These tailored functionalities enable personalized timelines to meet specific business requirements while reducing cost.
  • Oracle Inventory Management Cloud Integration: Oracle Integration Service (ICS) based integrations to Oracle Inventory Management Cloud for inbound logistics, inventory operations and outbound fulfillment. This enables Oracle ERP and SCM Cloud customers to implement source-to-settle and order-to-cash flows at an accelerated pace.
  • Improved User Experience: A new browser-based user interface look and feel helps to simplify the user experience.
  • Global Support: Ten additional languages are supported, including traditional Chinese, traditional French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Thai and Turkish.
  • Barcode Scanning: Allows processing of multi-element 1D barcodes and 2D barcodes.

Press Release
Pharmas Turn to Oracle to Meet New Drug Safety Reporting Regulations in China

Shanghai, China—Jun 26, 2018

Luoxin Biotechnology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (“Luoxin Bio”) and Innovent Biologics, Inc. (“Innovent Bio”) have selected Oracle Argus to help them comply with new drug safety regulations and reporting in China.

Since 2018 the regulatory landscape for drug safety and pharmacovigilance in China has changed dramatically. The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) has been driving reforms to improve the quality of drugs and to encourage innovation in the development of new drugs and medical devices. This change is driving demand for pharmacovigilance and drug safety reporting solutions that can help pharmaceutical and medical device companies meet regulatory demands while shortening time to market for life-altering therapies.

Luoxin Bio has selected Oracle Argus to meet the FDA and CFDA’s regulatory compliance on clinical report submissions for their international study. With Oracle Argus, Luoxin will have a single global safety database and an integrated workflow for superior safety reporting.

Innovent Bio selected Oracle Argus to eliminate manual processes associated with reporting its adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs). The company’s pharmacovigilance team turned to Oracle Argus to eliminate manual data entry and potential errors on narrative drafting and to automatically track and support changing regulations in various global regions for timely reporting.

Oracle Argus is a comprehensive pharmacovigilance platform that enables biopharma companies to make faster and better safety decisions, optimize global compliance and integrate risk management into key processes.

Oracle Recognized as a Leader in Email Marketing by Independent Analyst Firm

Mon, 2018-06-25 07:00
Press Release
Oracle Recognized as a Leader in Email Marketing by Independent Analyst Firm Oracle Responsys, part of Oracle Marketing Cloud, cited for up-leveling its operations, tech and creative services

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 25, 2018

Oracle Marketing Cloud has been named a leader in email marketing solutions by Forrester Research. The Forrester Wave™: Email Marketing Service Providers, Q2 2018 recognizes Oracle Responsys for its “great services combined with already strong reporting, collaboration, and global support.” The report also notes Oracle believes up-leveling its “operations, tech, and creative services to its strategy and analytics offerings will differentiate Oracle from other marketing clouds.” A complimentary copy of the full report can be downloaded here.

“If you’ve ever had to create personalized customer experiences across multiple channels, you know how difficult it can be to do this at scale,” said Tony Castiglioni, VP of Product Management, Oracle Marketing Cloud. “By integrating cutting edge technology such as AI into our email personalization and sending capabilities, we empower our clients to improve customer engagements and drive competitive differentiation. In our view, being recognized by Forrester as a leader in this space underscores Oracle’s commitment to delivering robust marketing solutions that help our customers increase ROI and drive more impactful customer experiences.”

According to Forrester, “email marketing [is] the old salt of your digital toolkit, and still the most cost effective promotional channel.” The evaluation criteria in this year’s report focused on email marketing fundamentals as well as capabilities that help marketers advance their email marketing applications. Of the eight vendors Forrester evaluated, Oracle Marketing Cloud was one of two companies recognized as a leader across 26 criteria, which were grouped into three categories: current offering, strategy and market presence. Oracle received the highest possible scores for the collaboration, security, distributed business model support, globalization, agency relationships, strength of management team, and employee retention criteria.

“It’s the combination of the best platform and best services offering—including strategic and creative services—that empowers our customers to do innovative, award-winning and highly profitable digital marketing,” said Lisa Harmon Stephens, VP of Creative Services, Oracle Marketing Cloud. Forrester’s report noted one client reference described the value of balancing “great services combined with already strong reporting, collaboration, and global support,” saying,  “The Oracle platform is more robust [than competitors’]. But its creative side is the key to its success.”

Oracle Responsys is part of Oracle Marketing Cloud, an integrated portfolio of best-in-class B2B and B2C applications that empowers marketers to deliver irresistible, consistent and connected customer experiences that help drive sales and increase brand loyalty. Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, Oracle Marketing Cloud provides contextually informed, personalized experiences at scale and in real-time so marketers can reach customers wherever they are, and however they choose to engage.

KCR Streamlines Drug Safety Reporting with Oracle

Mon, 2018-06-25 07:00
Press Release
KCR Streamlines Drug Safety Reporting with Oracle Taps Oracle Argus to grow its pharma, biotech and medical device pharmacovigilance business

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 25, 2018

KCR, a full-service contract research organization (CRO) for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, is improving the way it meets its clients’ pharmacovigilance and drug safety reporting needs with Oracle Argus.

The increase in drug consumption and the rise in drug reactions are fueling the need for improved monitoring and reporting of adverse events during clinical trials and after drug approval. With its eye on growth, KCR is streamlining the recording and tracking of its clients’ serious adverse events (SAEs) reported during clinical studies by leveraging modern technology to replace manual, repetitive data entry.

“Many of our clients are developing breakthrough medications, especially in oncology and CNS, so it is critical that we are able to support their safety reporting needs with a solution to process SAEs to regulatory authorities worldwide,” said Anna Baran, chief medical officer, KCR. ”We need to provide constant expertise on global and local safety requirements and this is the reason we selected Oracle Argus safety and pharmasol’s rapidLIVE. We have been able to dramatically streamline the process of recording, tracking and reporting adverse events during clinical studies and have seen significant increased efficiencies and time savings.”

Oracle Argus provides KCR with a safety database and system that tracks all regulatory submissions giving clients peace of mind by enabling them to meet stringent regulatory compliance mandates. For example, in the European Union, adverse events reported into the European Medicines Agency’s Eudravigilance database must meet the new ICH E2BR3 reporting standard. Oracle Argus enables this seamlessly with a click of a button, helping eliminate manual, time consuming and error-prone processes.

A trusted KCR partner, pharmasol, helped implement the hosted Argus solution using its rapidLIVE Software as a Service solution.

“We are pleased to report that the time it took from KCR’s selection of Oracle Argus and their full implementation was approximately 7 weeks,” said Tim Billington, pharmasol’s chief sales officer.

Expanded Oracle Accelerator Gives Texas Startups a Boost New Austin-based program offers enterprise customer network, mentoring, resources and cloud technology, as well as Capital Factory collaboration, to help startups grow and compete globally

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 22, 2018

Oracle today announced the opening of the Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator in Austin, Texas, the global program’s first U.S. location and part of the Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem. The new accelerator provides statewide startups with access to a network of more than 430,000 Oracle customers, technical and business mentors, state-of-the-art technology, co-working space at Capital Factory, introductions to partners, talent, and investors, and free Oracle Cloud credits. In addition to local expertise, the program offers an ever-expanding global community of startup peers and program alumni.

Austin Startup Cloud Accelerator

The Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator, which is open to early-stage technology and technology-enabled startups, is accepting applications through August 7. Startups will begin the six-month program in early September.

Oracle’s Austin Startup Cloud Accelerator is run by JD Weinstein. Weinstein, a former Principal at WPP Ventures and previously a Venture Associate at Capital Factory, brings a deep understanding of the local startup ecosystem and scaling startups through enterprise relationships.

“Austin and the State of Texas are thriving centers of innovation, and we are proud to dive in and support the startup community with cutting edge resources, including enterprise customer channels, hands-on experience with Oracle technical and product teams, mentoring from top business leaders, executives, and investors, as well as connections to thousands of entrepreneurs and corporate partners through our collaboration with Capital Factory,” said JD Weinstein, head of Oracle Startup Ecosystem in Austin.

Capital Factory & Austin Network

Oracle is working with Capital Factory to provide connections to the organization’s expansive network of local entrepreneurs, prominent CEOs, venture capitalists, corporations, and government officials. Startups in Oracle’s accelerator will also receive access to Capital Factory’s Mentor Network, free co-working space, and will benefit from the reach of the organization’s social media and event communities. Members of Oracle’s broader Global Startup Ecosystem will also benefit from the relationship with Capital Factory.

“We are excited that Oracle has invested in Austin as the first U.S. location of its global accelerator,” said Joshua Baer, founder and executive director, Capital Factory. “The combination of our mentor network and Oracle’s cloud platform and customer connections will provide startups a major advantage in growing their business.”

The Startup Cloud Accelerator is supported by Oracle’s rapidly growing presence in Austin. The company recently opened a state-of-the-art campus on Lady Bird Lake. Oracle’s expanding employee base and the new facility will provide additional resources and support for startups in the accelerator program.

Commitment to Global Startups

“Rooted in its own entrepreneurial beginnings, Oracle has long believed that startups are at the heart of innovation,” said Reggie Bradford, senior vice president, Oracle Startup Ecosystem and Accelerator. “The Austin accelerator is key to our mission of creating a global ecosystem of co-development and co-innovation where everyone—the startups, customers, and Oracle—can win.”

The Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem offers residential and nonresidential startup programs, plus a burgeoning higher education program, that power cloud-based technology innovation. The residential Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator has locations in Austin, Bangalore, Bristol, Delhi–NCR, Mumbai, Paris, São Paulo, Singapore and Tel Aviv. Oracle Scaleup Ecosystem is the nonresidential, virtual-style program available for growing companies around the globe. Interested startups, venture capital firms and other organizations, regardless of their location, can apply for Oracle Scaleup Ecosystem here.

Oracle Introduces New Java SE Subscription Offering for Broader Enterprise Java Support

Thu, 2018-06-21 09:00
Press Release
Oracle Introduces New Java SE Subscription Offering for Broader Enterprise Java Support Java SE Subscription Provides Licensing and Support for Java SE on Servers, Desktops, and Cloud Deployments

Redwood Shores Calif—Jun 21, 2018

In order to further support the millions of worldwide businesses running Java in production, Oracle today announced Java SE Subscription, a new subscription model that covers all Java SE licensing and support needs. Java SE Subscription removes enterprise boardroom concerns around mission critical, timely, software performance, stability and security updates. Java SE Subscription complements Oracle’s long-standing and continued free Java SE releases and stewardship of the OpenJDK ecosystem where Oracle now produces open source OpenJDK binaries, enabling developers and organizations that do not need commercial support or enterprise management tools.

Java SE Subscription provides commercial licensing, including commercial features and tools such as the Java Advanced Management Console to identify, manage and tune Java SE desktop use across the enterprise. It also includes Oracle Premier Support for current and previous Java SE versions.  For further details please visit FAQ list at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javaseproducts/overview/javasesubscriptionfaq-4891443.html

“Companies want full flexibility over when and how they update their production applications.” Said Georges Saab, VP Java Platform Group at Oracle. “Oracle is the world’s leader in providing both open source and commercially supported Java SE innovation, stability, performance and security updates for the Java Platform. Our long-standing investment in Java SE ensures customers get predictable and timely updates.”

“The subscription model for updates and support has been long established in the Linux ecosystem. Meanwhile people are increasingly used to paying for services rather than products.” said James Governor, analyst and co-founder of RedMonk. “It’s natural for Oracle to offer a monthly Java SE subscription to suit service-based procurement models for enterprise customers.”

"At Gluon we are strong believers in commercial support offerings around open source software, as it enables organizations to continue to produce software, and the developer community to ensure that they have access to the source code." said Johan Vos, Co-founder and CTO of Gluon. "Today's announcement from Oracle ensures those in the Java Community that need an additional level of support can receive it, and ensures that Java developers can still leverage the open-source software for creating their software. The Java SE Subscription model from Oracle is complementary to how companies like Gluon tailor their solutions around Java SE, Java EE and JavaFX on mobile, embedded and desktop."

To learn more about Java SE Subscription, please visit https://www.oracle.com/java/java-se-subscription.html. Java is the world’s most popular programming language, with over 12 million developers running Java. Java is also the #1 developer choice for cloud, with over 21 billion cloud-connected Java virtual machines.

Intercollegiate Tennis Association and Oracle Announce Multi-Year Extension

Thu, 2018-06-21 07:00
Press Release
Intercollegiate Tennis Association and Oracle Announce Multi-Year Extension

TEMPE, Ariz. and Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 21, 2018

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association and Oracle are excited to announce a multi-year extension to their alliance, as Oracle continues to strengthen its ongoing commitment to collegiate tennis.

The Oracle ITA alliance includes Oracle’s ongoing sponsorship of the Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, the Oracle ITA Masters and Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, while adding title sponsorships to the ITA Summer Circuit (now branded as the Oracle ITA Summer Circuit Powered By UTR) and the Division I and Division III National Team Indoor Championships.

“Our partnership with ITA has been a great success to date, and we’re eager to keep expanding the game,” said Oracle CEO Mark Hurd. “We want to ensure that young players understand that collegiate tennis offers terrific opportunities to improve their games, play in great venues in a team environment, all while getting an education that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.”

ITA CEO Timothy Russell added, “The ITA is thrilled to be continuing our wonderful working relationship with Oracle; an incredibly innovative company with an astonishing forward-thinking CEO. Both parties are committed to positively shaping the future of college tennis. Oracle’s attention to creating events of high distinction, in which the best players in college want to participate and fans want to watch, either in person or from the comfort of their own home via television and live streaming, is elevating our game.”

The newly-christened Oracle ITA Summer Circuit Powered by UTR will serve as a model for level-based play in the near 50 tournaments contested during the Summer Circuit’s six-week duration. The Oracle ITA Summer Circuit Powered by UTR, which began in 1993, provides college tennis players, along with junior players, alumni and young aspiring professionals, the opportunity to compete in organized events during the summer months. For the third consecutive year, the Oracle ITA Summer Circuit Powered by UTR will feature nearly 50 tournaments across 23 different states, during a six-week stretch from late June to the end of July. The circuit will culminate at the ITA National Summer Championships, hosted by TCU from August 10-14, which will feature prize money for the first time.

“The ITA Summer Circuit is yet another great opportunity to influence the quality of American tennis and Oracle is excited to play a part in it,” said Hurd. “The summer circuit is the ideal opportunity for all players, from collegians to juniors, to play competitively year-round.”

Oracle will now have an expanded presence in the dual-match portion of the college tennis schedule by becoming the title sponsor of all four National Team Indoor Championships. Contested during the months of February and March, the Oracle ITA National Team Indoor Championships feature 16 of the nation’s top men’s and women’s teams from Division I, and eight highly-ranked men’s and women’s Division III teams vying for a national indoor title.

“We are excited that Oracle will serve as the title sponsor for the National Team Indoor Championships,” said Russell. “The National Team Indoor Championships feature elite fields and stand as a good season-opening barometer for how the dual-match season will play out.”

Serving as the culmination to the fall season, the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships will take place November 1-5, 2018, at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona, which recently hosted the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships and previously hosted the 2016 ITA Small College Championships.

The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships features 128 of the nation’s top collegiate singles players (64 men and 64 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men’s team and 32 women’s teams). In its second year, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, it is the lone event on the collegiate tennis calendar to feature competitors from all five divisions playing in the same tournament.

Created in 2015, the Oracle ITA Masters has established itself as one of the premier events of the collegiate tennis season. The Oracle ITA Masters features singles draws of 32 for men and women, and a mixed doubles event with a 32-draw. Players are chosen based upon conference representation, similar to the NCAA Tournament.

Bourbon Ibirapuera Streamlines Property Operations, Creates New Guest Experiences with Oracle Cloud

Wed, 2018-06-20 08:00
Press Release
Bourbon Ibirapuera Streamlines Property Operations, Creates New Guest Experiences with Oracle Cloud Brazilian Hotel Implements Integrated Suite of Hospitality, ERP and CX

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Jun 20, 2018

Oracle today announced that Bourbon Ibirapuera has selected a suite of Oracle solutions including OPERA and Simphony Cloud, Fusion ERP, OPERA Loyalty, OPERA OWS, Oracle Sales Cloud, Eloqua and Hyperion as part of an initiative to streamline operations across properties and arm hotel associates with new insights that inform personalized guest experiences. Bourbon Ibirapuera initially invested in OPERA Cloud, Simphony Cloud and ERP Cloud solutions before adding Oracle Sales Cloud and Eloqua products for a full suite of operations, back-office and customer facing technologies. Bourbon Ibirapuera will be the first hotel in Brazil to install these solutions and arm staff with cloud tools that enable deeper guest interaction and loyalty.

“Bourbon Ibirapuera’s choice of Oracle is a testament to the value that Oracle horizontal and vertical products bring to all segments of the hospitality market,” said Bernard Jammet, senior vice president, Oracle Hospitality. “With these new tools Bourbon Ibirapuera will be able to augment their guest experience and compete with larger chains and properties in region.”

“The hospitality industry as a whole spends too much time and effort managing multiple vendors and building integrations across solutions to maximize the value from IT investments,” said John Chen, CEO, Bourbon Ibirapuera. “After an initial investment in OPERA and Simphony Cloud we quickly realized the value of investing in a suite of solutions with existing integrations. With our new suite of solutions we are arming our business with deeper insights to empower informed management decisions, streamlining the reservation process and optimizing hotel operations in an integrated way.”

As a longtime customer of Oracle Hospitality, Bourbon Ibirapuera’s experience with OPERA delivering value for hospitality operations established Oracle as a clear front runner for the upgrade project. A phased integration approach, first focusing on the back end operational infrastructure before adding new marketing tools, allowed Bourbon Ibirapuera to effectively manage digital transformation and prepare staff for a cloud transition. Bourbon Ibirapuera’s implementation will also bring several new customer-facing features to the region including web and mobile check-in and more targeted incentives for new or repeat guests including personalized rates and promotions.

Bourbon Ibirapuera will bring these point of sale, online reservation, financial and budget planning and CRM and marketing tools online in June 2018 after a four month implementation process.
