Press Release
Oracle Launches Enterprise-Grade Blockchain Cloud Service Enables Organizations to Securely Extend Business Applications and Processes, Accelerate Transactions Across Partner Ecosystems

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Enabling customers to leverage one of today’s most disruptive emerging technologies, Oracle today announced Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service. The advanced, enterprise-grade distributed ledger cloud platform helps customers increase business velocity, create new revenue streams, and reduce cost and risk by securely extending ERP, supply chain, and other enterprise SaaS and on-premises applications to drive tamper-resistant transactions on a trusted business network.

Part of Oracle Cloud Platform, Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service delivers an enterprise-grade blockchain platform with industry leading resiliency, scalability and security. It is fully managed by Oracle and provides customers rapid provisioning and simplified operations with built-in monitoring, continuous backup, and point-in-time recovery.

“Blockchain holds the promise to fundamentally transform how business is done, making business-to-business interactions more secure, transparent, and efficient,” said Amit Zavery, senior vice president, Oracle Cloud Platform. “Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service provides enterprise-grade blockchain capabilities and is able to accelerate innovation for on-premises ERP and cloud-based SaaS and PaaS customers. Enterprises can now streamline operations across their ecosystem and expand their market reach with new revenue streams, sharing data and transacting within and outside the Oracle Cloud.”

As part of its commitment in helping enterprise customers realize the benefits of blockchain, Oracle recently joined Hyperledger. Hosted by The Linux Foundation, Hyperledger is an open source collaborative effort created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies. By leveraging open sources and maintaining interoperability with open standards, Oracle enables customers to benefit from all open-source innovations, and avoid vendor lock-in.

Delivered by the world’s most scalable, distributed transaction processing platform provider, Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service enables customers to:

  • Deliver business results with the ability to rapidly onboard and easily scale the network participants globally, while ensuring that operations run continually with resilience, high availability, and autonomous recoverability.
  • Accelerate Innovation with Oracle Cloud Applications by extending enterprise boundaries to reduce friction in existing business processes and enable new business models and opportunity to access untapped revenue streams. Combined, these can help reduce transaction costs, mitigate security and privacy risks for enterprises, and simplify compliance and audits. With a pre-assembled, managed cloud platform, customers can also simplify operational complexity, dynamically change network configurations and rapidly identify and resolve issues with real-time monitoring dashboards. Furthermore, as blockchain technology rapidly evolves, Oracle plans to stay on top of the latest capabilities and helps ensure customers are not exposed to undue risk of technological churn.
  • Accelerate time to market with REST API-driven platform and rich integration options in Oracle Cloud Platform. Start developing blockchain applications within minutes without complex setup and provisioning, and leverage API-driven development for cloud or on-premises applications using REST API and API management service to easily invoke blockchain services directly or with pre-built integrations from Oracle Cloud.

Additionally, Oracle plans to offer Oracle BlockChain Cloud Service as part of Oracle Platform for Open Banking, and provide seamless connectivity between Oracle FLEXCUBE and other banks to enable greater security, scalability, and transparency in the information exchanged.

Validation of Out-of-the-box Connectivity and Seamless Integration

“Accenture is proud to be one of the early leaders in blockchain and assisting clients with the use of it for new and innovative solutions,” said David Treat, managing director who leads Accenture’s global blockchain practice. “Oracle’s integration capabilities and the ability to add value on top of open source technologies, like Hyperledger Fabric, make Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service a strong contender in the enterprise. Through our initial tests, we were impressed with its pre-assembled approach, ease of integration through the REST APIs, and strong focus on enterprise requirements. We look forward to leveraging the technology to offer new innovative capabilities to our clients.”

“As an early adopter of Oracle technologies, Infosys is pleased to partner on the newly launched Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service,” said Indranil Mukherjee, vice president, head of Oracle Practice, Infosys. “This will enable customers to extend their current Oracle ERP and SaaS solutions to use trusted business networks for securely conducting business-to-business transactions in real-time across their ecosystem of trading partners. Oracle’s investment in a enterprise-grade blockchain cloud platform along with Infosys' expertise in blockchain will enable Infosys customers to build more secure, transparent and efficient enterprise, and be ready to succeed in the digital economy.”

“Our collaboration with Oracle is aimed at developing a blockchain cloud service for enterprises that helps to advance the privacy of blockchain transactions and improve the interoperability of traditional databases and blockchains,” said Raejeanne Skillern, Vice President, Data Center Group and General Manager, Cloud Service Provider Group, Intel Corporation. “Intel platforms such as the recently announced Intel Xeon Scalable platform include a broad set of hardware features that help improve blockchain security and performance.”

Oracle Introduces AI-Powered Intelligent Bots to Help Enterprises Engage Customers and Employees

Mon, 2017-10-02 11:05
Press Release
Oracle Introduces AI-Powered Intelligent Bots to Help Enterprises Engage Customers and Employees Oracle Mobile Cloud Brings Open, Scalable and Intelligent Services to Web, Mobile Applications and Chatbots

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Oracle today announced a major update of Oracle Mobile Cloud, featuring artificial intelligence (AI)-powered intelligent chatbot capabilities. Expanding Oracle Cloud Platform’s leading mobile portfolio, the new capabilities offer organizations a multi-channel platform, deep analytics that can link key stakeholder experiences across bots, mobile applications and web, as well as simplified bot development features. Using this powerful portfolio, enterprises can better engage with customers and employees across today’s most popular messaging platforms.

In the rapidly expanding mobile economy, businesses are looking for smart and personalized ways to engage with customers via mobile devices. With an estimated 5 billion mobile phones used worldwide, Oracle is helping enterprises meet growing customer demand by being able to seamlessly build, integrate, and secure reliable mobile services.

“As user behavior has dramatically shifted to mobile and messaging platforms, it is critical enterprises evolve to support stakeholders’ preferred channels,” said Amit Zavery, senior vice president, product development, Oracle Cloud Platform. “By using Oracle Mobile Cloud, businesses will be able to continue strengthening these relationships, even as users might be moving away from engaging on websites and traditional mobile applications to messaging channels.”

Leveraging a powerful AI foundation comprised of machine learning, cognitive and knowledge services, dialog and context, and deep learning, the updated Oracle Mobile Cloud enables enterprises to build applications that can automate more engaging conversations at scale. For example, Oracle’s intelligent Bots use deep learning-based natural language understanding (NLU) to comprehend and determine intent of end-user conversations. It can then help companies process these conversations, integrate each with existing business application data, and automatically respond.

Oracle has also made it simple for enterprises to develop bots with the low-code Bot Builder tool. This feature provides one place to design and train NLU models, design conversational dialog flows, and set up channel and enterprise data integration. The builder allows developers to test and deploy bots using an available lifecycle management capability. In addition, the suite also introduces powerful customer experience analytics to offer deep insights into mobile and bot adoption, usage and performance to troubleshoot and personalize engagement with the end user.

Oracle’s intelligent bots can support many of today’s most popular interaction channels including messaging clients such as Facebook Messenger, Kik, Skype, Slack, and digital voice assistants such as Amazon Echo, Amazon Dot and GoogleHome. Additionally, Oracle’s intelligent bots provide native and JavaScript SDK to extend mobile and web-based applications with chat and voice capabilities via Apple Siri, GoogleVoice or Microsoft Cortana.

“Oracle Mobile Cloud has really helped us reach more customers and partners with greater efficiency,” said Ryan Klose, general manager, technology and innovations at National Pharmacies. “Our early access to the new intelligent bots capabilities is exciting as it has equipped us with a conversational channel that is more human (less business process) with our customers.”

“As an aviation aftermarket services leader, we continuously look for ways to make information easier to access and more available to the aviation industry,” said Kevin Larson, Chief Information Officer at AAR. “We consider Oracle intelligent bots a very promising new channel to interact with our employees and customers which will complement our Web and Mobile solutions in order to further empower our user community with the right information at the right time whether they are an airline or AAR executive, a buyer, an aircraft technician or a warehouse clerk.”

“With Oracle, we are actively developing a ‘channel agnostic’ technology architecture that allows us to build once and quickly apply the new capability across multiple channels,” said Michael Menendez, vice president, IT, BGE and Exelon Utilities. “Not only does this allow us to deliver solutions for emerging channels quickly, it also ensures that our customers have a consistent experience however they choose to interact with us.”

Additional features of the new Oracle Mobile Cloud Enterprise include:

  • Enterprise integration that allows customers to deliver real value to end users with access to back end data, user identity and transactional systems
  • Access to key insights allowing businesses to identify areas of friction, funnel traffic and analyze user paths
  • Bots-to-human hand-offs creating seamless side-routing to humans or external systems with context transfer, and back to bot abilities as needed
  • Completely integrated lifecycle management including development, testing, version control and integration with CI/CD
  • Continuous evolution offering customers the ability to rapidly improve services as well as access updated AI engine and microservices
  • Total flexibility for customers to select channels, dialog flow design, back end integration, model selection and business logic control
  • Through Oracle Cloud, a complete solution at lower cost that decreases complexity and offers access to a broad range of leading SaaS, PaaS and IaaS services

Recent industry analyst reports have recognized Oracle Mobile Cloud technology leadership, including its mobile application development, support and scalability. Following are some of these reports:

Press Release
Oracle and Chatbox Collaborate to Bring Instant Apps to AI-powered Oracle Intelligent Chatbots Customers Can Now Create Powerful End-User Experiences and Easily Collect Data in Existing Chatbot Conversation Flows

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Further expanding its new Oracle Intelligent Bots capabilities, Oracle today announced it has agreed to embed CHATBOX® Instant Apps in Oracle Mobile Cloud. With this new capability, Oracle Mobile Cloud will provide a richer, more-contextual user experience, which enables chatbots to switch seamlessly between unstructured conversation and personalized, structured data exchange.

Leveraging Chatbox technology, Oracle Mobile Cloud will now offer customers a chatbot that can deliver an interface that is appropriate to the interaction, such as an online form with pertinent information from the conversation. Supporting many of today’s most popular interaction channels, including Amazon Echo, Facebook Messenger, and GoogleHome, customers can have powerful, contextual conversations with end users through almost any platform.

For example, using Oracle Mobile Cloud with Chatbox, a consumer interacting with a bot to return a retail item would use a Chatbox Instant App. It would guide the person through a simple, personalized experience within the messaging platform to gather all relevant information—without the need for emails, downloads, or phone calls. The bot is able to collect accurate, meaningful data in a way most convenient for the customer.

“As enterprises look for ways to streamline business processes, intuitive tools designed around existing workflows are ideal ways to increase productivity and better utilize resources,” said Steve Miranda, executive vice president, Oracle Applications Product Development. “By integrating Chatbox technology into our new intelligent bots, businesses can further leverage their existing platforms to more comprehensively engage with customers and simplify processes—both for data collection and end-user actions.”

Featuring AI-powered intelligent chatbot capabilities, Oracle Mobile Cloud is helping enterprises build applications that can automate more engaging conversations at scale. The new capabilities offer organizations a multi-channel platform, deep analytics that link key stakeholder experiences across bots, mobile applications and web, as well as simplified bot development features. The addition of Chatbox Instant Apps to this powerful portfolio enables enterprises to rapidly and easily build personalized experiences to better engage with customers and employees across today’s most popular messaging platforms.

“We believe that Oracle’s Intelligent Bots, coupled with Chatbox Instant Apps, will provide companies with a significant competitive advantage in the messaging space,” said Phil Gordon, founder and CEO, Chatbox. “We are proud to work with a company like Oracle that continues to invest heavily in delivering exceptional, personalized customer experiences.”

Chatbox is a simple scalable solution for businesses to communicate with customers where they respond best—messaging. Chatbox Inc. is based in Seattle, Washington. For more information about Chatbox, please visit chatbox.com.

Oracle Makes HR Technology More Powerful, Smart and Easy to Use

Mon, 2017-10-02 11:02
Press Release
Oracle Makes HR Technology More Powerful, Smart and Easy to Use New Applications and User Experience Enhancements Extend Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Example of new UX enhancements for Oracle HCM Cloud.

Oracle today announced new additions to the Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud portfolio. Part of Oracle Cloud Applications Release 13, the latest release of Oracle HCM Cloud introduces three new applications, major user experience enhancements, and extensions to existing HR modules. New innovations include powerful artificial intelligence (AI)-based recruiting features, as well as new health and safety and governance and risk capabilities.

To successfully manage and retain the best talent, organizations need access to the right technology to optimize the employee experience and anticipate and respond to changing workforce needs. The latest release of Oracle HCM Cloud empowers HR professionals to meet this challenge by combining all major HR functions on one platform to enable collaboration, optimize talent management, provide complete workforce insights, increase operational efficiency, and make it easy for everyone to connect on any device.

“The latest additions to Oracle HCM Cloud incorporate simple but powerful features that enable organizations to leverage the latest innovations to anticipate and plan for the future,” said Chris Leone, senior vice president, Oracle Applications Development. “By combining innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) and user experience with major enhancements to core HR modules, we are able to help HR leaders drive digital transformation and positive business outcomes.”

Oracle HCM Cloud has been at the forefront of AI technologies with earlier investments in predictive analytics and machine learning, which are already used to power recommendations used in Career Development and Oracle Learning Cloud. In this latest release, Oracle is extending the power of AI to inform recruitment efforts in the following ways:

  • Candidates can access helpful chatbots to discover more information about positions of interest and the company’s recruiting process, helping increase candidate engagement and conversion.
  • Algorithmic insights help users make better decisions throughout the application, from highlighting best-fit candidates to hiring managers, suggesting other possible career opportunities for candidates, and predicting candidate offer acceptance to recruiters. Oracle AI leverages company talent data, as well as candidate information, to guide the process and improve the likelihood of success.

With the latest release of Oracle HCM Cloud, Oracle is making the industry’s broadest cloud-based human capital management suite more powerful and easy to use. New products included in the latest release of Oracle HCM Cloud are:

  • Oracle Recruiting Cloud: A new recruiting solution built natively on Oracle HCM Cloud, Oracle Recruiting Cloud provides more robust sourcing and comprehensive recruiting capabilities. Recruiting organizations will be able to drive proactive campaigns and identify future pipelines of talent ahead of demand. Internal employee candidates will be able to benefit from increased access to internal opportunities and potential career paths available in a company to see how they fit with existing skills, career preferences and new learning opportunities available to increase their likelihood of success at a company. External job candidates can access helpful chatbots to discover more information about positions of interest and the company’s recruiting process to help increase candidate engagement and conversion. Human resources information technology (HRIT) organizations will benefit from the streamlined administration and ongoing maintenance that comes with everything being on a common platform, helping to eliminate challenges of account management, single sign-on, data integrations and reporting. All users will benefit from new algorithmic data surfacing and chatbots that help improve recommendations and overall decision support.
  • Workforce Health and Safety Incident Management: Provides organizations with a quick and easy-to-use solution to manage accidents or unsafe conditions in order to best align with organizational safety goals. Features include incident management, capturing critical event information with tailored data based on the type of incident reported, ability to track actions to remediate the root cause of the safety issue, safety dashboards, and reporting support to help ensure proper action is taken and is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) U.S. standards. Ideal for workplaces that involve heavy manual labor where health and safety risks are a key concern such as manufacturing and supply chain, construction and engineering or automotive.
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance: Helps organizations identify, remediate, monitor, and manage risk by streamlining governance and compliance initiatives. It deters employees from exploiting the system through clearer segregation of duties and more security features to prevent potential fraudulent activities.

In addition to the new applications, Oracle has also introduced major user experience enhancements and significant additions to existing Oracle HCM Cloud modules. The new user experience puts the needs and experiences of users at the center of the design in a way that’s consistent, simple, and intuitive. The new design delivers a warm and approachable HR tool that people can use—it’s fast, familiar, and easy—mirroring platforms they are accustomed to using everyday as consumers, but now appearing in enterprise applications. It provides a common experience across all devices, including mobile, so business information can be accessed at all times; meanwhile, the instinctive user experience enables seamless and simple interactions with artificial intelligence built in to provide users with customized recommendations so they only see data that is adapted for them, such as role, location, and business. Users can complete self-service transactions and inquiries to help maintain data accuracy in the system to increase user participation and engagement. The new contemporary look and feel also enables organizations to more easily make customizations to best match their brand, corporate culture, and other enterprise software—from logos to color schemes.

Additions to existing Oracle HCM Cloud modules include:

  • My Volunteering: Enables employees to identify volunteer projects their organization supports and quickly enroll.
  • Knowledge Management: A new addition to Oracle HR Help Desk Cloud provides simple and convenient ways for people to get access to large amounts of information stored in the enterprise.
  • Anytime Feedback: Increases employee communication by providing quick feedback on any employee at any time. Users can provide recognition or send real-time feedback to help better inform performance management, talent reviews, and succession management.

Oracle CX Cloud Suite Empowers Businesses to Meet Skyrocketing Customer Expectations

Mon, 2017-10-02 11:01
Press Release
Oracle CX Cloud Suite Empowers Businesses to Meet Skyrocketing Customer Expectations Innovations Across Commerce, Marketing, Sales and Service Enable a Smarter Approach to Customer Experience Management

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Oracle has extended the Oracle Customer Experience (CX) Cloud Suite with a series of new innovations that connect data, experiences and insights. The latest enhancements include innovative artificial intelligence capabilities for commerce, marketing, sales, and service professionals. To further empower customer experience professionals, the latest release also includes innovations in commerce, customer service, and behavioral data, as well as an intuitive new user experience.

Customer expectations are skyrocketing and forcing a rethink of traditional approaches to commerce, customer service, marketing, and sales. To help customer experience professionals meet these expectations and successfully drive digital business transformation initiatives, Oracle CX Cloud Suite reduces IT complexity, provides innovative customer experiences, and delivers tangible business results. The latest enhancements include innovations within the commerce, marketing, sales, and service applications that make up the Oracle CX Cloud Suite.

Artificial Intelligence Innovations

To empower commerce, marketing, sales, and service professionals to deliver smarter experiences across the customer lifecycle, Oracle has expanded its portfolio of artificial intelligence-based customer experience apps. New AI-powered capabilities improve search capabilities within the Oracle CX Cloud Suite commerce platform, optimize marketing campaign execution, shorten sales cycles and streamline customer service processes. For example, in the quoting process, AI-driven graphical price optimization provides sales professionals with guidance to provide select discretionary discounts as appropriate. New Adaptive Intelligent Apps for CX, embedded within the Oracle CX Cloud Suite, deliver immediate impact and value for business professionals. For further details, see Adaptive Intelligent Apps expansion announcement.

B2B and B2C Commerce Innovations

New capabilities within Oracle CX Cloud Suite deliver the industry’s only enterprise grade B2B and B2C commerce platform. This extensible commerce platform delivers complete business flows for consumer shoppers and business buyers, enabling B2B and B2C online businesses—from a single user interface—to utilize industry-leading B2C functionality and experience, while also serving the complexity of B2B business models. For example, B2B and B2C commerce professionals can leverage the innovative platform to operate multiple sites from a unified UI. Native personalization capabilities further enhance and optimize the site experience for consumers and business buyers with targeted content and promotions by audience and A/B test for best performance.

Customer Service Innovations

New Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities enable proactive customer service and incident management by leveraging data produced by IoT-enabled smart consumer devices to capture and analyze real-time insights about the way customers interact with products and services. At the same time, enhanced knowledge management capabilities provide the context customer service professionals need to deliver consistent experiences across all service channels. In addition, new enterprise visual search capabilities further enhance the customer experience by enabling customers to discover what they are looking for without having to learn or find business-specific product names, make/model, category groupings, etc.

Behavioral Data Innovations

Next-generation data analytics capabilities make it possible for customer experience professionals to immediately understand and adapt to signals that individual customers are sending with their behaviors. The new streaming behavioral-data platform collects, connects, analyzes, and distributes behavioral data in real time to provide a complete and unified picture of how customers interact with a brand. This allows customer experience professionals to move beyond sampling techniques and benefit from a new 1-to-moment level of customer intent across any digital channel, which can be implemented in real time and at massive scale.

User Experience Innovations

A major refresh of the CX Cloud Suite user experience empowers customer experience professionals to quickly, easily, and securely access business information on any device, while remaining on one comprehensive and unified platform. The new user experience provides a contemporary look and feel and enables organizations to more easily make customizations to best match their brand, corporate culture, and other enterprise software—from logos to color schemes.

“Expectations are skyrocketing and to be successful in this new digital reality, organizations need to connect data, experience, and insights in order to rethink traditional approaches to customer experience management,” said Rondy Ng, senior vice president, Application Development, Oracle. “By taking an innovation-driven approach to software development, Oracle is uniquely placed to deliver the connected intelligence business professionals need to manage business transformation, while delivering tangible business results. The latest innovations within the Oracle CX Cloud Suite span our entire platform and empower organizations of all sizes to reduce IT complexity and deliver innovative customer experiences.”

Oracle Launches Industry’s First Digital Data Offering for Channel Marketers

Mon, 2017-10-02 11:00
Press Release
Oracle Launches Industry’s First Digital Data Offering for Channel Marketers New Oracle Data Cloud Solution Empowers Channel Marketers to Achieve Their Business Goals by Reaching Their Audiences in a Natively Digital and Data-driven Way

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Oracle today announced the launch of the first digital data offering designed to help B2B channel marketers connect with indirect sellers, value-added resellers, and distributors. The new Oracle Data Cloud digital channel solution enables tech companies and other channel marketers to personalize their communications about programs, investments, and incentives for thousands of channel partners, increasing partner engagement and effectiveness.

“To date, channel marketing has been underserved by the digital marketing industry,” said Niraj Deo, vice president of products, Oracle Data Cloud. “Despite their analog success, channel marketers have lacked the data they need to efficiently reach potential partners and resellers at scale in the digital medium. Through this solution, Oracle Data Cloud gives channel marketers robust data-driven capabilities to achieve their marketing goals. It also enables a modern programmatic data sharing capability, so channel marketers can make the most of partner incentives and investments.”

While channel marketers make significant investments in channel incentives and other marketing strategies, very little of that investment has been data driven and digital. The new Oracle Data Cloud channel marketing solution enables efficient and automated data sharing with large numbers of channel partners, thus improving downstream critical workflows, such as re-targeting and pipeline acceleration.

“Channel programs by definition will be distributed, regional and will involve thousands of channel partners,” said Jennifer Schulze, senior director, Product Marketing, GE Digital. “Most manufacturers might not have tailored data-driven marketing programs to address channel programs in an effective and efficient manner. Being able to reach partners digitally, in a targeted way, brings significant agility and efficiency to a manufacturer’s channel programs. Additionally, by being data driven, a manufacturer can now share data programmatically with and across partners, while remaining compliant and using modern marketing solutions for their channel led businesses.”

As part of its new digital channel solution, Oracle Data Cloud announced a partnership with Zyme, a leader in channel data management, to integrate its exclusive directory of global channel partners, resellers, and dealers. The Zyme directory is enriched with proprietary research that provides a strong data-driven foundation for cChannel mMarketing leaders to execute digital channel marketing programs.

“Zyme’s comprehensive and exclusive Channel Data Management and analytics capabilities now have a very large application in the form of Digital Marketing,” said Chandran Sankaran, CEO of Zyme. “We are very excited to work with Oracle Data Cloud to bring these unique data-driven solutions to customers. By leveraging Zyme’s leading channel solutions, our customers will be able to unlock efficiencies in otherwise disconnected workflows and enable data sharing using modern online marketing techniques.”

Among the planned capabilities of Oracle Data Cloud’s digital channel solution:

  • Leverages the scale and depth of the industry’s largest B2B and B2C audience data marketplace
  • Enables Account Based Marketing in both digital programmatic and social activation channels
  • Offers coverage across 25,000 large tier-one channel companies through Oracle’s account-based marketing (ABM) solution, with future coverage expected to expand to more than one million channel companies worldwide
  • Allows channel marketers to reach distributors by name, identify channel-specific media consumers, and build custom lists of specific-channel companies using channel-specific pre-built and custom audience capabilities
  • Provides more than 700 B2B data categories, supported by thousands of B2C categories, to enable comprehensive channel marketing across B2B, B2B2B, and B2B2C.

“Sixty-five percent of B2B organizations include indirect channels and partners in their go-to-market strategy, yet the digital and account-based marketing strategies of those organizations often do not account for this reality,” said Maria Chien, service director of Channel Marketing Strategies at SiriusDecisions. “Effective partner communications require a continuous, conscious effort to increase partner engagement through thoughtful timing, delivery, and messaging. Suppliers should add a method of segmentation to their programs that allows them to identify and concentrate their resources, money, time and effort on marketing both to and through partners with the potential to grow revenue and value"

Made possible by its data marketplace and platform capabilities, the Oracle Data Cloud digital channel solution gives leading technology, insurance, food manufacturing, and travel companies the account-based marketing (ABM) data they need to reach thousands of potential partners, resellers, and distributors.

Press Release
Moleskine Grows Global Digital Footprint with Oracle Customer Experience Cloud Suite With a Brand New Website, Moleskine Unifies Online Customer Experiences Globally

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

Moleskine has deployed Oracle Commerce Cloud, part of the Oracle Customer Experience (CX) Cloud Suite, in 35 countries, 10 languages and 15 local currencies. Oracle CX Cloud Suite enables Moleskine to deliver increasingly consistent customer experiences and supports the brand in carrying through integrated online campaigns across the globe.

We embarked on a transformation with Oracle to unify and offer the best possible customer experience. People’s behavior is evolving very rapidly and as premium brand, one of our most important objectives is providing a seamless and engaging customer experience. Of course we evaluated different platforms, but our final decision went in favor of Oracle as we were also guided by the opportunity to access a suite of cloud solutions that will allow us to optimize our digital transformation in the customer experience” said Arrigo Berni, Chairman of the Board Moleskine srl.

Moleskine offers a range of over 750 products that are available in over 90 countries through 23,000 points of sale: from paper notebooks to state-of-the-art digital notebooks, from bags to travelling accessories, books to device holders and more. With Oracle CX Cloud Suite, Moleskine will be able to shift its e-commerce from a local and independent approach to a unified global site.

Our sustainable growth trajectory relies on our relentless focus on delivering new, innovative concepts, experiences and products to our loyal customers. As net revenues in e-commerce continue to grow, Moleskine saw an opportunity to establish better operating platforms with global reach and scale that allows us to execute a more integrated marketing plan to support product launches,” said Gaia Franceschini, Head of Digital, Moleskine srl.

Moleskine rolled out its first website in May 2017 in Hong Kong using Oracle Commerce Cloud. Oracle partnered with Eurostep, the Ecommerce and Digital provider, which implemented the site within eight weeks and then quickly went on to expand their e-commerce footprint to over 35 countries in 10 languages with 15 different local currencies in a mere seven months. With Oracle Commerce Cloud, Moleskine will be able to leverage a configurable, customizable storefront to enable its globally distributed team to work with modern business tools, localized content and currency support.

In addition to Oracle Commerce Cloud, Moleskine will also leverage Oracle Marketing Cloud to support omni-channel customer journeys.

Oracle CX Cloud Suite has provided the brand’s e-commerce, digital, marketing and sales operations teams with a global platform to showcase new products, underline brand identity and always be on the same page as the loyal Moleskine community.

“In today’s dynamic retail environment, brands need to be able to deliver seamless, personalized and immediate experiences across all devices and touch points,” said Rondy Ng, Senior Vice President, Applications Development, Oracle. “Moleskine has built an incredibly powerful brand and we are pleased to be able to help the Moleskine team build on that success in order to drive innovation and business transformation on a global scale.”

Mon, 2017-10-02 08:01
Press Release
Oracle Unveils World’s First Autonomous Database Cloud Also Introduces Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud that has Demonstrated Performance of 10x Faster at Half the Cost of Amazon

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 2, 2017

At Oracle OpenWorld 2017, Oracle Chairman of the Board and CTO Larry Ellison unveiled his vision for the world’s first autonomous database cloud. Powered by Oracle Database 18c, the next generation of the industry-leading database, Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud uses ground-breaking machine learning to enable automation that eliminates human labor, human error and manual tuning, to enable unprecedented availability, high performance and security at a much lower cost.

“This is the most important thing we’ve done in a long, long time,” said Ellison. “The automation does everything. We can guarantee availability of 99.995 percent, less than 30 minutes of planned or unplanned downtime.”

The Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud eliminates the human labor associated with tuning, patching, updating and maintaining the database and includes the following capabilities:

  • Self-Driving: Provides continuous adaptive performance tuning based on machine learning. Automatically upgrades and patches itself while running. Automatically applies security updates while running to protect against cyberattacks.
  • Self-Scaling: Instantly resizes compute and storage without downtime. Cost savings are multiplied because Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud consumes less compute and storage than Amazon, with lower manual administration costs.
  • Self-Repairing: Provides automated protection from downtime. SLA guarantees 99.995 percent reliability and availability, which reduces costly planned and unplanned downtime to less than 30-minutes per year.

The Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud handles many different workload styles, including transactions, mixed workloads, data warehouses, graph analytics, departmental applications, document stores and IoT. The first Autonomous Database Cloud offering, for data warehouse workloads, is planned to be available in calendar year 2017.

Highlights of the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud include:

  • Simplicity: Unlike traditional cloud services with complex, manual configurations that require a database expert to specify data distribution keys and sort keys, build indexes, reorganize data or adjust compression, Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud is a simple “load and go” service. Users specify tables, load data and then run their workloads in a matter of seconds—no manual tuning is needed.
  • Industry-Leading Performance: Unlike traditional cloud services, which use generic compute shapes for database cloud services, Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud is built on the high-performance Oracle Exadata platform. Performance is further enhanced by fully-integrated machine learning algorithms which drive automatic caching, adaptive indexing and advanced compression.
  • Instant Elasticity: Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud allocates new data warehouses of any size in seconds and scales compute and storage resources independently of one another with no downtime. Elasticity enables customers to pay for exactly the resources that the database workloads require as they grow and shrink.

Oracle Database 18c

Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud is powered by the next generation of the world’s #1 database, Oracle Database 18c. Oracle Database 18c delivers breakthrough automation capabilities, as well as greatly enhanced OLTP, analytics and consolidation technologies.

New Oracle Exadata X7 Delivers In-Memory Performance from Shared Storage

Mon, 2017-10-02 08:00
Press Release
New Oracle Exadata X7 Delivers In-Memory Performance from Shared Storage State-of-the-art Processors, Storage, Network and Software Enhancements

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif —Oct 2, 2017

Continuing to raise the bar for enterprise-class database platforms, today Oracle announced the next-generation Oracle Exadata X7 with significant hardware and software enhancements in overall performance, storage capacity, network bandwidth, and automation. Exadata X7 delivers extreme performance and reliability to run the largest, most business-critical database workloads.

Oracle Exadata is an Engineered System designed to be the ideal platform for all database workloads.  It features scale-out, database optimized compute, InfiniBand networking, and smart storage for fastest performance and low costs. Specialized algorithms vastly accelerate all types of database processing including OLTP, Analytics, and Consolidation. Exadata’s full-stack automation and optimization of all components slashes the need for skilled human labor, enabling reduced costs and improved reliability.  Exadata’s simplicity, scalability, and reliability make it the foundation for the recently announced Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud.

Today, Exadata powers 4 out of 5 of the world’s biggest banks, telecoms, and retailers.  Exadata can be deployed on-premises, in Oracle Cloud, or using Oracle’s unique Cloud at Customer.

Exadata X7 hardware features the latest Intel© Xeon© Scalable Processors and a 100 percent increase in the capacity of Exadata’s industry-leading PCIe NVMe Flash storage, plus a 25 percent increase in disk capacity. A full rack Exadata X7 system has raw capacity of 1.7 petabytes of disk storage or 720 terabytes of NVMe all-Flash storage.

Additionally, Ethernet network bandwidth has increased by 150 percent from 10 to 25 Gigabits per second, while memory capacity and performance have increased by 50 percent. Overall, Exadata X7 database applications can realize 20 to 40 percent improvement in performance for OLTP, analytics and mixed workloads.

New Exadata Smart Software

Exadata’s end-to-end smart software has the unique ability to coordinate and optimize application performance across database servers, networking, and storage. Because Oracle owns and controls the entire stack of Exadata hardware and software technologies, functionality has been tailored to recognize different application workloads, prioritize operations in real time, and run database queries in both compute and storage servers. Every Exadata release increases these advantages.

Also announced today are new Exadata software innovations that extend the power of Oracle’s in-memory database technology to the large capacity of Exadata NVMe Flash storage, enabling analytic workloads to achieve in-memory performance against extremely large data sets in shared storage. With this breakthrough, the same vector processing algorithms that make in-memory databases so fast in DRAM are applied to accelerate OLTP or Analytic databases by automatically creating a columnar formatted cache in Exadata Flash storage, boosting analytics by up to 400 percent.

New Exadata software also delivers in-memory performance from shared storage for OLTP workloads.  Exadata software now automatically uses DRAM as a cache in storage to speed-up access to data by up to 250 percent, as compared to already-fast Flash access times. Unique algorithms automatically coordinate between database server and storage server memory caches to avoid redundant caching of the same data.  This feature cannot be implemented by conventional storage.

“Exadata continues to innovate faster than any other database or storage platform,” said Juan Loaiza, senior vice president of systems technology, Oracle. “Exadata’s scale-out, smart storage architecture was the first to support PCI/NVMe flash in 2014, with Exadata X5, the first to offload database queries to storage and the only platform to deliver in-memory performance from shared storage for OLTP and Analytics.  Exadata is the only database platform to have on-premises, public cloud and Cloud at Customer deployment options.”

Oracle Debuts Revolutionary New Machine Learning Applications in Opening Keynote at Oracle OpenWorld 2017

Sun, 2017-10-01 18:00
Press Release
Oracle Debuts Revolutionary New Machine Learning Applications in Opening Keynote at Oracle OpenWorld 2017

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 1, 2017

Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison unveiled revolutionary new machine learning applications for database and cyber security in the opening keynote presentation at Oracle OpenWorld 2017 in San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

Ellison introduced Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud, the world’s first 100 percent self-driving autonomous database, and new automated cyber defense applications that detect and remediate attacks in real time.

With total automation based on machine learning, Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud eliminates the human labor required to manage a database by enabling a database to automatically upgrade, patch and tune itself while running. With no more scope for human error or requirements for human performance testing, Oracle is able to minimize costly planned and unplanned downtime to less than 30 minutes a year and guarantee that organizations can cut their costs in half compared to Amazon.

Ellison also shared benchmark test results during short demonstrations that highlighted the huge performance gap between Oracle Database on Oracle Cloud and Oracle Database running on Amazon’s best Oracle Database Cloud Service, Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS). The direct comparison also highlighted the difference between Amazon’s 99.95 percent reliability and availability SLAs, which exclude most sources of unplanned and planned downtime, and Oracle’s 99.995 percent SLA guarantees.

Quotes from Larry Ellison’s keynote presentation:

  • “Now, I don't use the word revolutionary new technology every year here at Oracle OpenWorld. We don't -- you know, because there aren't that many revolutionary new technologies. But this one is.”
  • “This thing is truly elastic, instantaneously elastic. So you never provision more resource than you need. It really is on-demand computing.”
  • “These are not Oracle went out and made up the most ridiculous demos to make Amazon look bad they could come up with. These are datasets that we actually used for stress testing, and performance testing, and validating our database.”
  • “Amazon is five to eight times more expensive running the identical workload than the Oracle Autonomous Database.”
  • “We guarantee you contractually to cut your Amazon bill in half. It's fairly easy when you're five to eight times faster. We feel pretty comfortable.”
  • “It's not unusual for our competitors to use our technology. Amazon knows this. They are one of the biggest Oracle users on the planet Earth. SAP is one of the biggest users of Oracle on Earth.”
  • “Bring-your-own-license to PaaS applies to all of our PaaS services. Not just database, but also middleware, also analytics. These are dramatic price reductions.”
  • “You'll see a migration, an evolution of database skills, where you're focused more on database design, schema design, different kinds of data analytics including machine learning, setting the policies as to what is mission critical, what requires disaster recovery, figuring out those policies.”

“Oracle’s commitment to partners is clear—we both win when we work together,” said Jeff Cashman, senior vice president of business development, Manhattan Associates. “We are excited to collaborate with Oracle in bringing state-of-the-art cloud solutions to companies of all sizes.”

Oracle is investing in innovative new services and capabilities with Docker and Kubernetes, which has captured the attention of cloud application developers at Dial-Once, RECVUE, and SuiteBox among others.

PS Technology, Stromasys and Symantec are a few of the 4,000+ cloud application providers leveraging Oracle programs and go to market resources to grow their business and expand into new markets.

New OPN Enablement Resources

Also launched today, the Cloud Excellence Implementer Program (CEI) helps customers make a smooth transition to the cloud through Oracle implementation partners. The new program recognizes and rewards those partners who have invested in building their Oracle Cloud expertise and demonstrate a proven track record for delivering high quality cloud implementation projects across Oracle’s customer base. With the CEI distinction, partners that work with Oracle to implement Oracle Cloud around the globe will be able to further differentiate themselves in the marketplace, and benefit from increased enablement and go-to-market support from Oracle. In tandem, customers will be able to more easily identify partners with the specific expertise and proven track record they need to successfully navigate their transition to the cloud.

The CEI program is available to OPN members now and will initially focus on implementations for Oracle’s SaaS Cloud services.

Driving Cloud Momentum for MSPs

Unveiled at OpenWorld 2016, the Oracle Cloud Managed Service Provider (MSP) program enables customers to speed up success in the cloud with support from the right partner and platform. The program is available to partners with the skills and infrastructure to build, deploy, run and manage both Oracle and non-Oracle workloads, enabling OPN members to offer a complete managed service solution for workloads running on Oracle Cloud.

The Oracle Cloud MSP Program most recently includes Fujitsu America Inc., which just announced a new MSP relationship to provide Oracle Cloud to its customers in the Americas.

“There is a breadth of opportunity for all partners—regardless of partner type—to expand your solution portfolios with Oracle Cloud,” said Penny Philpot, group vice president of worldwide channels and alliances, Oracle. “Our primary focus is working together with partners to transform our customers’ businesses and support their growth in the cloud.”

Oracle is one of the only cloud providers to deliver complete industry-leading product portfolios across Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), and Data-as-a-Service (DaaS). Its SaaS portfolio features the broadest set of solutions in the marketplace, which can be extended, enriched and customized through Oracle PaaS and delivered on Oracle IaaS for high performance, security, scale and availability. In addition, Data as a Service (DaaS) complements our existing SaaS applications with one of the world’s largest third-party data sources with more than six billion anonymized profiles from online data, websites, and offline transactions for every major industry.

New Oracle PartnerNetwork Program Drives Oracle Customer Success

Sun, 2017-10-01 15:00
Press Release
New Oracle PartnerNetwork Program Drives Oracle Customer Success Oracle Cloud Excellence Implementer Program Recognizes and Rewards Partners for Consistently Delivering Successful Oracle Cloud Implementations

Oracle OpenWorld, San Francisco, Calif.—Oct 1, 2017

To accelerate customers’ digital transformation in the cloud, Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) today launched the Oracle Cloud Excellence Implementer (CEI) program. The offering recognizes and rewards partners that continually demonstrate expertise, a successful track record, and superior customer satisfaction in delivering high-quality Oracle Software as a Service (SaaS) Cloud implementations to customers.

Oracle is committed to delivering spectacular customer experiences across the Oracle Cloud portfolio. This applies to the entire customer lifecycle, but the implementation phase—including investment in the support and services our customers need—is particularly critical to customer success and satisfaction.

The CEI program was developed to provide customers with a clear, objective and informative view of partner qualifications for implementing Oracle SaaS solutions. Through the OPN Solutions Catalog, customers are now able to easily identify and engage with partner firms that best align to their specific project needs. Access to this information helps customers minimize implementation risk, quickly adopt new cloud functionality, and continuously expand their Oracle Cloud footprint.

Partners may qualify for CEI status with individual Oracle cloud service module(s) within defined geographies, and must meet a rigorous set of entry and ongoing engagement criteria in order to remain in the program. Firms that achieve CEI status will be able to further differentiate themselves in the market and receive the highest level of benefits and deeper engagement with Oracle.

“The cloud continues to represent a tremendous opportunity not only for our customers, but also for our partner community,” said Camillo Speroni, Vice President of Worldwide Strategic Alliances, Oracle. “As such, we remain committed to providing the intelligence and resources both parties need to make this transition as smooth and successful as possible. The CEI program was designed to recognize and support those partners that not only offer a marked expertise in Oracle Cloud solutions, but also a commitment to excellence in ensuring successful customer experiences and outcomes throughout the entire implementation process.”

The CEI program officially launched at Oracle OpenWorld during the OPN Central Keynote, where Oracle executives outlined Oracle’s cloud direction and strategy. The partner application process opened on June 28, 2017. A full list of CEI partners can be found on the Oracle PartnerNetwork portal.

“As a regional partner with hubs in North America, Europe and ASEAN, the Oracle Cloud Excellence Implementer program is an opportunity for us to showcase our specific expertise in Oracle Cloud implementations, giving us the ability to compete with larger global organizations within the scope and geography we specialize in,” said Andy Bird, Founder and CEO, Inoapps. “We are thrilled that this new program recognizes implementation success and customer satisfaction—rather than focusing on only sales statistics—and allows us to set ourselves apart in the market as a proven leader in Oracle Cloud implementations.”

Businesses Transform Customer Engagements with Oracle Live Experience Cloud

Fri, 2017-09-29 07:00
Press Release
Businesses Transform Customer Engagements with Oracle Live Experience Cloud Accelerates Transformation through Rich, Highly Personalized Mobile-First Interactions

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Sep 29, 2017

Oracle today announced Oracle Live Experience Cloud, a customer engagement service for the mobile generation. With the mobile and digital landscape shaping the way customers interact with businesses, companies must quickly adapt to changing expectations to deliver frictionless, real-time, contextual experiences across channels. With Oracle Live Experience Cloud, users can address these new requirements and bring a new dimension to their mobile and business applications by being able to serve customers in the way that best meets their needs, be it HD voice, HD video, screen sharing, and annotations.

As such, businesses will have the ability to quickly resolve customer issues, drive greater customer loyalty, and increase satisfaction by engaging users on the right channel at the right time. Agents will also be empowered to deliver better customer experiences by having access to contextual customer data and insights, cutting call times and limiting customer frustration.

“Nearly 70% of IT and business leaders say ‘improving customer experience’ is the goal of their digital transformation initiative, and advancements in the contact center are crucial to success,” says Robin Gareiss, president of Nemertes Research1. “Successful digital transformation requires short time to market. By leveraging a cloud-based solution, organizations can start seeing improvements in CSAT scores, revenue, and customer retention immediately. What’s more, the ability to retain context across channels from within the native app is a huge development and will dramatically boost customer satisfaction.”

A recent Oracle report titled “The Future of Enterprise Communications: The Cloud Redefines Customer Experience” noted that while 65 percent of companies agree communications embedded within cloud applications will become the dominant way of communicating with employees, suppliers and customers, many currently lack the ability to do so effectively. Oracle Live Experience Cloud enables embedded contextual data and business analytics so users can easily switch between channels without losing key information already shared. Regardless of the customer’s preferred channel, the user will enjoy a more streamlined experience while the business gains valuable customer insights that can be leveraged within its core business applications.

“Nothing is more aggravating than dealing with a call center or service desk where you are stuck in a long, dehumanized loop of menu options with a slow resolution,” said Doug Suriano, senior vice president, general manager, Oracle Communications. “With Oracle Live Experience Cloud, businesses can eliminate customer friction points by harnessing the power of contextual communications and real-time engagement capabilities to offer a personalized and highly interactive digital experience that builds customer loyalty and improves business outcomes.”

A cloud-native solution, Oracle Live Experience Cloud can be easily integrated into web and mobile apps and used to proactively engage customers at key moments of their individual journey. It modernizes existing Call Center and CRM solutions, supporting enterprise digital transformation efforts employees to deliver contextual and responsive cross-channel engagements that satisfy the customer and ultimately drive sales. Finally, businesses can optimize engagement success by measuring interactions in real-time and provisioning updates to further improve overall business results.

Commonwealth Edison, Baltimore Gas & Electric Awarded the 2017 Oracle Sustainability Innovation Awards

Thu, 2017-09-28 06:45
Press Release
Commonwealth Edison, Baltimore Gas & Electric Awarded the 2017 Oracle Sustainability Innovation Awards Leading Utility Companies Recognized for Energy Efficiency Programs

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Sep 28, 2017

Oracle today announced that Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) and Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) will be presented with the 2017 Oracle Sustainability Innovation Awards at Oracle OpenWorld. The awards recognize customers that are committed to making environmental issues a priority across the enterprise. ComEd and BGE showcased unique ways to advance energy efficiency through innovative green practices using Oracle technology. ComEd leadership was distinguished by earning the 2017 Oracle Chief Sustainability Office of the Year award among all nominations.

“We are inspired by the successes achieved by ComEd and BGE as part of their core commitments to a sustainable future. Both companies have implemented Oracle technologies in a way that improved eco-efficiencies, innovation and transparency,” said Rodger Smith, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Utilities. “We’re honored to present them with the 2017 Oracle Sustainability Innovation Award during Oracle OpenWorld this year.”

Both companies have made significant impact by employing the Oracle Utilities Opower Energy Efficiency solution. The solution includes Home Energy Reports (HERs) and online web tools that provide customers with information about their energy consumption, thereby encouraging conservation. Since 2009, ComEd has generated over 1.1 TWh in energy savings; BGE has used the program since 2012 to save 420,000 MWh. The two organizations have also successfully implemented Peak Management programs, which encourage customers to reduce their energy consumption when electricity demand is high. Because of this BGE has reduced peak demand by 16 percent for participating customers, and ComEd has reduced Greenhouse gases by 10 percent.

“We’re delighted to be recognized for our commitment to sustainable practices,” said Mark Case, vice president of Regulatory Policy and Strategy for BGE who leads energy efficiency initiatives for Exelon’s utilities. “We’ve seen great success and look forward to continuing to work with Oracle to drive energy efficiency.”

“At ComEd, we believe that meeting the energy needs of today and tomorrow will depend heavily on our ability to collaborate with our customers,” Val Jensen, senior vice president, Customer Operations at ComEd. “Working with Oracle gives us more opportunities to leverage data-driven insights and engage with our customers to drive energy efficiency.”
