SAN MATEO, Calif.—May 31, 2017

Oracle NetSuite Global Business Unit, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials / ERP, HR, Professional Services Automation (PSA) and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced that Soccer Express, Canada’s largest distributor and retailer of soccer equipment and apparel, has implemented NetSuite’s unified cloud commerce platform to run its omnichannel sales spanning ecommerce and in- store point of sale (POS) across four stores, inventory management, order management and ERP. As a result of the implementation, Soccer Express has increased revenue by 25 percent.

Founded in Coquitlam, British Columbia in 1998, Soccer Express offers merchandise from global brands including Nike, Adidas and Puma. As the company experienced 30 percent year over year growth rates, Soccer Express realized its siloed, legacy Sage and Adobe systems could no longer support its business. The company required a scalable, flexible solution to manage the business and support its ecommerce expansion.

“Adopting a single solution that seamlessly unifies ecommerce with back-end business systems has given us the ability to scale and improve processes,” said Andrew Veer, Chief Operating Officer of Soccer Express. “By removing the burden of manual tasks, we’ve been able to take two employees previously dedicated to order entry and invoicing and move them to roles focused on better supporting our customers.”

Since going live with NetSuite in May, 2016, the customer experience has dramatically evolved.  All customer information is captured in a single repository, providing a 360-degree view of all customer activity, including purchases, returns, exchanges, store visits and marketing campaigns. This allows customer service representatives to provide better service and information to customers. Similarly, when shoppers are in a Soccer Express retail store, sales associates can access the same information with NetSuite POS, which provides shoppers with a seamless experience across all sales channels.

The new website, running on SuiteCommerce Advanced, provides a fresh and engaging shopping experience, including the ability to customize merchandise with names and numbers as well as display tier quantity pricing based on volume. With its target audience of 13- to 24-year-olds, it was also critical for Soccer Express to support and optimize the mobile experience. Now, with a responsive design website, the company has seen a 24 percent growth in mobile users and 30 percent increase in sales.

The website caters to individual soccer enthusiasts as well as soccer clubs by offering customized, private club stores. Each club store has its own unique merchandise, pricing, and real-time inventory availability. Because club purchasing happens at the start of the season, it was critical for Soccer Express to have a platform that could scale to meet the traffic and order management spikes.

“We support more than 150 soccer clubs across Canada and we wanted our customers to feel like they were shopping on a local online store,” said Veer. “We now have a platform that can meet the demands of our business.”

With NetSuite’s unified cloud commerce platform, Soccer Express has gained the following benefits:

  • Optimized inventory management. With two distribution centers and four retail stores, Soccer Express has real-time insight into inventory across its entire enterprise. It can utilize inventory from across its stores to fulfill ecommerce orders as well as ship direct from suppliers.
  • Efficient order management. With a centralized order management system for orders from all channels, Soccer Express can process orders faster, satisfy customers and lower operational costs. Orders that used to take six days to ship now go out in 24 hours or less.
  • Improved communication. Customers receive updates on every stage of their order from processing to shipping and delivery. Customer service is now standardized and employees across the company have access to all order information to help improve the customer experience.
  • Unified cloud platform. Replacing Sage for its ERP and Adobe for ecommerce with a single cloud solution, Soccer Express has removed the hassles of having to manage upgrades, servers and dealing with version lock issues. The company gets automatic product updates and a platform that allows for easy customizations and integrations.

AS ONE Leverages Oracle Database Cloud to Publish Inventory Data to 4,300 Dealers in Real Time

AS ONE Leverages Oracle Database Cloud to Publish Inventory Data to 4,300 Dealers in Real Time Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service to help facilitate collaboration with expanding dealer network, supporting business growth and cost reduction

Redwood Shores, Calif.—May 22, 2017

Oracle today announced that AS ONE Corporation has released APIs using Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service, which provides Oracle's latest database, Oracle Database 12c Release 2, in the cloud. With these offerings, AS ONE will be able to provide its 4,300 dealerships with real-time information for over 300,000 inventory datasets. Prior to the investment in Oracle’s solutions, the data could only be published once a day.

AS ONE is a general trading company of scientific instruments, as well as industrial, physics and chemistry equipment, that provides hospital and nursing care products. It offers more than 1.4 million items of product information through catalogs and the company's Web shop—AXEL—and sells products through a delivery system that connects users with dealers and manufacturers. AS One had been looking for a mechanism for real-time external collaboration of over 300,000 inventory data sets with minimum load and processing time.

In July 2014, the company consolidated the database infrastructure—which originally existed in six disparate systems—into Oracle Exadata. According to AS ONE, the integration reduced the operation time by five times and improved the processing performance up to 20 times. Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service serves as an effective approach to access real-time data, and the Oracle Exadata and Oracle REST Data Services can easily develop REST API of Oracle Database to AS One’s 4,300 dealerships. Initially, AS One plans to leverage the solution for dealership data reference, and eventually expand to include functions such as delivery date reply and order reception. In addition, AS One will leverage chatbot technology to implement inventory inquiries via a business chat application.

System integration in this project was handled by Kanden System Solutions Co., Inc.

Additionally, AS One also implemented Oracle Data Visualization Service to visualize 1.4 million data points at the core of the system.

Oracle today announced it will expand its cloud services in India over the next six to nine months with plans for an Oracle data center in India.

Over the coming months Oracle will be reviewing proposals from government and business partners to provide customers with the capability to build and move workloads to an India-based cloud. The services will offer uncompromised security and performance at a significant price advantage over both existing on-premises infrastructure and competitive cloud offerings.

Redwood Shores, Calif.—May 9, 2017

Continuing its Oracle Cloud Platform innovation, Oracle today announced major enhancements that make it easier for organizations to move enterprise database applications to the cloud. Oracle now offers Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Oracle FastConnect private networking capabilities, and Microsoft Windows Server support for Oracle’s high performance next generation IaaS. These offerings enable a new range of customers to deploy and access Oracle Database applications in the cloud with performance and availability on par or exceeding on-premises, and demonstrate performance of up to 20 times faster on benchmark tests compared with Oracle running on a competitor’s cloud.* 

Oracle is the only cloud vendor to provide customers with complete and highly available enterprise application environments in the cloud. With this announcement, Oracle is delivering unique, integrated platform services to mid-sized and large enterprises that don’t have the expertise or capital to maintain comparable systems on-premises. Customers can now use Oracle’s next generation IaaS to deploy applications based on Microsoft Windows, Oracle Linux, and other Linux distributions, and scale to millions of operations per second, connect to Oracle RAC Databases on bare metal servers that support hundreds of thousands of transactions per second, and use Oracle FastConnect to connect these applications to on-premises networks at costs as low as one-twentieth of a competitor’s comparable offerings for high bandwidth users.** Customers can either use all the services and pay an hourly charge, or purchase a subscription for consistent billing.

“Enterprise customers and ISVs have high expectations for performance and availability for their database applications. At the same time, they want to preserve hard-won experience and best practices, particularly from on-premises deployments,” said Kash Iftikhar, vice president of product management, Oracle. “We introduced our next generation IaaS to address all of these requirements. Oracle Removes Roadblocks, Frustration, and Guesswork for Infrastructure Customers

ICAT provides property insurance protection to over 65,000 homeowners and businesses located in hurricane- and earthquake-exposed regions of the United States.

We’ve run our mission-critical online quoting application on-premises with Oracle Database for years, but keeping up with business growth was a challenge,” said Mike Ferber, CIO, ICAT. “The Oracle Database Cloud Service on bare metal exceeded our performance requirements and made a move to the Oracle Cloud feasible. Oracle Enhances Oracle Cloud Platform Services

Oracle Cloud Platform offers the broadest range of integrated services to enable customers of any size and at any price point to easily develop, test, and securely and cost-effectively deploy their business-critical applications in the cloud. Oracle Cloud Platform’s next generation IaaS capabilities have been expanded to include:

  • Support for two-node Oracle RAC on bare metal compute, providing proven, continuous database availability through failures or software maintenance. Two-node RAC can scale on-demand from 4-72 OCPUs, with 1TB of RAM and 24TB of storage.

  • Oracle FastConnect on next generation IaaS delivers customers an on-demand private network connection that offers flexible bandwidth options (increments of 1Gb or 10Gb), can scale up and down with their business needs, and can be provisioned in minutes via console and API. Current global partner providers are Equinix and Megaport.

  • Support for Microsoft Windows Server on both 1, 2, 4, 8, 16-OCPU virtual machine compute and three 36-OCPU bare metal compute shapes provides users a range of compute, memory, and storage resources, with image portability across instance types, all on the same, high performance virtual cloud network.

  • Support for CentOS, RHEL, and Ubuntu, which along with Oracle Linux and Microsoft Windows Server distributions covers the vast majority of enterprise operating systems.

Oracle and AT&T Enter into Strategic Agreement AT&T to Move Databases and Applications Workloads to the Oracle Cloud

Oracle today announced that AT&T signed an agreement to move thousands of its large scale internal databases to Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Under the agreement, AT&T will migrate thousands of existing Oracle databases containing petabytes of data plus their associated applications workloads to Oracle Cloud.

The agreement gives AT&T global access to Oracle’s cloud portfolio offerings both in the public cloud and on AT&T’s Integrated Cloud. This includes Oracle’s IaaS, PaaS, Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) which will help increase productivity, reduce IT costs and enable AT&T to gain new flexibility in how it implements SaaS applications across its global enterprise. AT&T has also agreed to implement Oracle’s Field Service Cloud (OFSC) to further optimize its scheduling and dispatching for its more than 70,000 field technicians. With OFSC, for example, AT&T will combine its existing machine learning and big data capabilities with Oracle’s technology to increase the productivity, on-time arrivals and job duration accuracy of AT&T’s field technicians.

Continuing its commitment to cloud customers through extensive engineering and infrastructure investments, Oracle today announced enhancements to the Oracle Cloud EU Region in Germany with the addition of modern infrastructure as a service (IaaS) architecture and new IaaS and platform as a service (PaaS) cloud services. German-based modern IaaS will enable organizations to build and move mission-critical workloads to the cloud with uncompromised security and governance at a significant price performance advantage both over existing on-premises infrastructure and competitive cloud offerings. Oracle’s expanded infrastructure footprint is a result of tremendous customer demand with non-GAAP cloud revenue up 71 percent in Q3FY17 to $1.3 billion. The Oracle Cloud EU Region in Germany builds on the previously announced Oracle Cloud UK Region. The Oracle Cloud EU Region in Germany is expected to come online in the second half of this calendar year.

The expansion of the Oracle Cloud EU Region in Germany will consist of three high bandwidth, low latency sites—or Availability Domains (ADs). These ADs are located within the Frankfurt metropolitan area and operate in a completely fault-independent manner. This differentiated architectural approach along with unique to cloud technologies like Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), provides the highest levels of failure protection and availability for Oracle customers’ most demanding cloud-based applications. Availability Domains are deeply integrated into the Oracle Cloud Platform, easing use and eliminating complex architectural decision-making around availability.

With today’s news, Oracle will be providing EU-based customers with a comprehensive set of cloud services, including SaaS and the new PaaS and IaaS capabilities to support their journey to the cloud. Whether they are migrating Oracle Database applications, or building new ones, Oracle Cloud Platform is the fastest, most reliable platform. Oracle already has a major presence in Germany with Global Drinks, Lufthansa Cargo AG, and Mövenpick already using Oracle Cloud services in the country.

Founded in 1976, Trek bicycles are sold through a vast network of more than 10,000 independent bicycle dealers in 90 countries around the world. Using Oracle’s PaaS and IaaS services, Trek has been able to extend and modernize its legacy ERP system that handles inventory, purchasing, claim management, warehousing, and distribution for the company, while quickly building and integrating new mobile-first cloud applications.

As a first step, Trek set out to streamline the customer claims process and engagement with its dealers. Using Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, a key component of Oracle Cloud Platform, Trek developed an innovative new mobile application that enables dealers to submit repair claims using their mobile devices and a few taps of a button. With the new claims application, dealers will simply snap a picture of the customers’ bikes on their mobile device, connect directly to Trek’s supply chain applications through an API, and create a claim in just a couple of minutes. The new claim submission application will also include optical character recognition (OCR) technology that allows service professionals to pull up customer service histories simply by scanning a bike’s serial number. It also allows Trek to better service their bikes and better support existing customers.

“We’re taking a lot of functionality that dealers only can get currently through their terminals or by calling us on the phone, and putting it directly on their handheld devices for maximum efficiency,” Tom Spoke, global ERP director at Trek. “We believe this will significantly speed up the claims process and enable our global retailer network to spend more time selling bicycles and better serving customers.”

Oracle SOA Cloud Enables Trek to Expand Dealer Network

Looking ahead, Trek is also planning to leverage Oracle’s PaaS services, including Oracle Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Cloud and Oracle Developer Cloud to continue to grow its business, scale, and expand rapidly. This includes establishing electronic connections with third-party logistics providers around the globe, including opening a vast new revenue channel through Tmall, China’s largest online marketplace. Oracle SOA Cloud simplifies the process of developing external integrations across numerous interfaces to retailers, using the electronic data interchange (EDI) and managed file transfer (MFT) protocols and tying them back to Trek’s on-premises ERP system. These cloud-based development tools will enable Trek to accelerate the process of onboarding new partners, create unique SOA composites for each partner, and quickly establish new integration services. TREK was impressed by the ability to easily move the Oracle stack between on premises and cloud.

Trek plans to use Oracle Cloud Platform to develop more SaaS applications in the future, including a mobile app that will provide bicycle retailers with additional functionality in other areas of their business and another mobile app that will be used internally in Trek’s distribution centers. The company is also looking toward customer-centric applications that will connect and fuel the competitive spirit of Trek enthusiasts.

Massive Global Expansion Initiatives

NetSuite announced a massive expansion plan to accelerate its international growth. This expansion shows how NetSuite customers will benefit from Oracle’s vast global scale and resources. The expansion initiatives will enable NetSuite to launch more data centers, more field offices and more development centers globally, which will help to bring a leading cloud ERP suite to more organizations around the world.

Adding Oracle’s global resources to NetSuite’s existing global footprint provides rapid entry and expansion into new markets across three key areas:

Data Centers. Oracle NetSuite Global Business Unit plans to more than double its data center footprint from five data centers globally to 11. NetSuite currently operates three data centers in North America, one in Amsterdam, Netherlands and one in Dublin, Ireland. NetSuite expects to add a fourth North American data center in Chicago. As part of the global expansion plans, NetSuite will leverage existing Oracle data centers in Europe and Asia. In Europe, NetSuite is scheduled to open a data center in Frankfurt, Germany to remedy the lack of modern cloud computing offerings in the country. In Asia Pacific, NetSuite plans to initially launch facilities in Australia and Singapore, followed by Japan and China. The addition of Oracle data centers to NetSuite’s operations will provide even greater security, redundancy, performance and scalability for new and existing customers across the globe.

Field Offices. NetSuite expects to double its global presence, expanding from offices in 10 countries to 23 spread across the globe. The addition of Oracle’s field offices significantly increases NetSuite’s ability to meet the rising demand for cloud ERP around the world. NetSuite is establishing a new presence in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, France, Germany, Sweden, Dubai, China, India, Malaysia and New Zealand. In addition, NetSuite is expanding headcount in existing field offices by over 50 percent to provide better resources for customer demand.

Development Centers. Oracle NetSuite Global Business Unit is leveraging existing Oracle development centers across India, China and Japan. The development centers will be able to accelerate the development of international, regional and local features and functionality within NetSuite OneWorld.


SuitePeople, the Most Unified and Flexible Cloud Core HR Offering Ever

NetSuite announced SuitePeople, a new core human resources (HR) offering natively built on NetSuite’s unified cloud suite. NetSuite is the first and only cloud ERP suite to give businesses a single platform to manage mission critical business processes.
