hii,,

While creating my database manually i got error

sql> create database orcl
>national character set utf8

national character set utf8
*
ORA:12701 CREATE DATABASE CHARACTER SET IS UN KNOWN...

where

sql> create database orcl
> character set WE8ISO8859P1
is successful...

please help me..

UTF8 is obsolete since version 9.2 and has been replaced by AL32UTF8.
Please read the documentation and articles that are more recent.
In the end, the documentation tells you what are the valid value for national character set.

Once again, maybe you should read the documentation:

Quote:

Specify the national character set used to store data in columns specifically defined as NCHAR, NCLOB, or NVARCHAR2. Valid values are AL16UTF16 and UTF8. The default is AL16UTF16.

I see NO reason to not use the default.
