Hi,

I find a core file in ORACLE_HOME/dbs of size 13G. Its in solaris environment.
Os- Solaris SPARC T5140
Oracle version - 11.2.0.1 .

Please help me to understand and what might have caused this file to grow to such a huge size and is it safe to remove this file. Now its not growing.

If you have exhausted reviewing the alert and other logs and still do not know where it came from, then you can remove it because there is no point in keeping a mystery core dump forever.

-rwxrwxrwx 1 oracle dba 2.8K May 15 2009 init.ora

If you have no intention to sending it onto MOS for analysis, then just remove it.

Hi,

Recently I got an alert log of 2013 and found the following.

1. The db was aborted due to some users killed the smon/pmon process and it was trying to restart.
2. After restart, the alert log started flooding with below error message.

oradism creation failed for unknown reasons 0 8 100
WARNING: -------------------------------
WARNING: oradism did not start up correctly.
Dynamic ISM can not be locked.----------------------------------------

I went through the following link and found that it was due to permission issue.

I guess, I can remove the core file .
